You're probably right. Unitarian/Universalists hardly make a pretense of being Christian. This ‘lady’ does.

Tell you what. Without the hope of the Resurrection, Christianity has no point at all. So all the “do-good” stuff in it, love your neighbor, help the poor, the widow and the orphan, the prisoners, the lame and blind, mean nothing either.

It's every man for himself without some higher authority, some source of absolute morality. Not necessarily the Christian God, but without belief in some God, what basis is there for any morality, other than it feels good.

Right, that is liberalism. And when it doesn't feel good?

Again we have a new Eve tasting the fruit and attempting to offer it to the rest of mankind....”we have outgrown Christ, the old forms have no relevance...we are now God!”

She proclaims apostacy!

Take a look at 2nd Timothy chapter 2, I won’t quote it... you read it and tell me again that Last Dakotan was espousing an extreme view of Christianity.

The Bible itself depicts an extreme view of Christ when Christ declares...”Before Abraham, I AM!”

Christ in one of his parables speaks of “Sheep who must need to enter through the sheep gate, but those imposters found within the enclosure who had not entered in through the sheep gate would be cast out!”

It was pretty specific that even those who had through exemplary living or through meditation (or other kind of mystical hook or crook) encountered a godly type of plane of existence but had not entered there through Jesus Christ(the sheep gate) would be cast into outer darkness.

Now we also know that Christ goes looking for lost sheep and we don’t know at what points internally or eternally God may reach people, even those who had not heard a regular pastor giving the good news.

So it can be very dangerous to judge what happens to such “unreached” peoples, though generally such folk will gladly acknowledge Jesus Christ(if it was Christ and the Holy Spirit truly wooing them) when it is revealed to them...just who it was that was so internally driving them towards a just, moral and Godly(albeit unknown “God” at the time) life!

Hard to believe Satan is still getting mileage out of that same old lie.

It reminds me of the lines guys use to get sex out of a girl; they’re always the same lines and girls still fall for them.

Ms. Vosper has written a book, published this week – With or Without God: Why the Way We Live is More Important than What We Believe – in which she argues that the Christian church, in the form in which it exists today, has outlived its viability and either it sheds its no-longer credible myths, doctrines and dogmas, or it's toast.

Not as toast as her and her followers. How sad.

Glorious Hope? H-O-P-E? Sounds like Obama would fit right in there.

Aye. When you consider that they are counted as Evangelicals, it is easy to see how some are now voting Democrat.

1 Corinthians 15:16-19 - For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised; (17) and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins. (18) Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. (19) If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most to be pitied.

I’m with Deaner as well horse_doc. Clothes and the type of music people like are completely irrelevant to what is being taught in the church and whether there are followers of Christ there. I know a man who became a Christian and ran youth groups, took care of the grounds and the like (it was a church with a lot of older members so he was active and got a lot piled on him just because so many were old and tired there). He left the church when he heard some people talking bad about him because he wore his good clothes to church . . . which weren’t “good clothes” to those people . . . you know short sleeve shirts and his newest pants which were kind of old.

You miss the point as well.

If a man is wearing worn-out jeans, and an old shirt, and they are the best that he has, then he's entering a church in the proper frame of mind.

If he's entering a church in a worn-out pair of jeans, and he's got a new F-150 in the parking lot, and you've seen him dress better at his day job - then he's just being flat-out disrespectful. You can be sure that if he had an important business meeting, or a hot date, then he'd find a way to dress appropriately.
