Dutch fear attacks over Islam film
The Times ^ | 3/23/2008 | Nicola Smith

Posted on 03/22/2008 11:26:46 PM PDT by bruinbirdman

The Netherlands is bracing itself for an international backlash as Geert Wilders, a maverick right-wing MP, prepares to release an anti-Islamic film that is already causing anger.

Critics fear the much-hyped film Fitna, which criticises the Koran, could lead to bloodshed in Muslim countries, damage Dutch business interests and endanger the lives of Dutch troops in Afghanistan.

Wilders – who has received death threats from Islamic extremists – has promised to release the film before the end of March despite pleas from the Dutch government and mounting unrest in the Muslim world.

The actual content of the 15-minute film has been kept tightly under wraps, even from the Dutch prime minister and security officials.

But Wilders revealed in January that it featured a split screen with verses from the Koran alongside examples of Sharia law, including scenes of beheadings and stonings. He has added that he wants the film to show that “Islam and the Koran are part of a fascist ideology that wants to kill everything we stand for in western democracy”.

Dutch broadcasters have refused to show the video but Wilders has indicated that he plans to air it on the internet.

The Dutch government is wary of infringing his freedom of speech and has not sought to ban the film but has branded it “irresponsible” and begun a preemptive diplomatic campaign.

Already, 15,000 people have protested in Afghanistan against the film, burning Dutch flags.

Nato commanders say that the Taliban could use it to whip up more anger and the Dutch ambassador in Malaysia said protests could lead to “dozens of deaths”. Indonesia, the most populous Muslim nation, said the film would threaten peace.

In a speech to the European parliament in Strasbourg this year, the Grand Mufti of Syria warned of global consequences. “If there is unrest, bloodshed and violence after the broadcast of the Koran film, Wilders will be responsible,” he said.

The film has been compared to the Danish cartoons of the prophet Muhammad. More than 100 people died in ensuing riots after they were published in 2006.

The first sentence of this article validates the premise of the film.

Good for thim, their real intentions need to be exposed. I just hope that all the threats don’t change his mind. They don’t really need an excuse to kill, they already do that.

"Why are the Dutch afraid?"

Why are the Brits afraid?

Nicola Smith, author of article:

". . . which criticises the Koran, could lead to bloodshed in Muslim countries, damage Dutch business interests and endanger the lives of Dutch troops in Afghanistan."

Brits are at war in Afghanistan.

Would Churchill say to parliament, "Don't make that propaganda film, Hitler might endanger our British industries and maybe some troops at Dunkirk."

Maybe some terrorists might try to blow up a Brit underground? Maybe a Spanish train? An airliner?

Every once in a while the Dutch do something........wrong. An unaired film has inflamed Islam and incurred the Wrath of Mohammed (PBUH...and no one else). Of course, in Dutch society, one with freedom of expression, artistic license and critical thought, a minority of 'guest workers' deem to change historical Dutch tolerance to portray and fabricate the image of the Dutch as intolerant at a whim.

This isn't a religion, it's a pathology.

Ghetto madness.

The lie starts in the first paragraph:

“international backlash”

NO. It is intolerant Islamonazis, not nations or anything else, that is the source of the “backlash.”

The Times reporters are dhimmi’ed to the max.

This quote is very good for Netherlands and France, and quite long one.

From Riyad-us-Saliheen, First Edition: June 1999:

“3. Aishah narrated that the Prophet said, ‘There is no emigration after the conquest (of Makkah) but only Jihad [(striving and fighting in the cause of Allah) will continue] and intention.* So is you are summoned to fight, go forth.’ [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

* Intention according to An-Nawawi: It means that goodness which ceased to continue by the cessation of emigration can still be obtained by Jihad and by intending accomplishing good deeds.

Commentary: When a country or a region is regarded as Dar-ul-Islam (land of Islam), it is not necessary to migrate from it to some other place. It is, however, obligatory to emigrate from such regions which are Dar-ul-Kufr (land of infidels) and where it is difficult to adhere to Islamic injunctions. It is also evident from this Hadith that when it is not necessary to migrate from one Islamic country to another then it is also not permitted by the Shari’ah to leave an Islamic country to settle permanently in Dar-ul-Kufr only for the reason that the latter has plenty of wealth and social welfare. Unfortunately, Muslims today are afflicted with this disease. The transfer of their capital and talent to Dar-ul-Kufr is indeed very disturbing because on one side these two factors are lending support to the economy of Bilad-ul-Kufr (countries of infidels) and on the other, obscenity and indecency that are common in such countries, are becoming increasingly common among the Muslims too.
Another highly important reason for the prohibition of migration of Muslims to Dar-ul-Kufr is that it goes against the spirit as well as their readiness for Jihad fi sabilillah (striving and fighting in the way of Allah). This spirit and readiness must be kept always alive so that the Muslims may respond at once to the call of Jihad whenever the need for it arises anywhere.”

IIRC, it wasn't that many years ago that a great many people were upset about "The Passion of the Christ" before they got to see it. People are very touchy when they suspect their sacred oxen are about to be gored.

(I'm not excusing the overreaction by our friends, the practitioners of the ROP, by the way...just making an observation.)

Indeed... John F'n Kerry said that Obama, because of his cultural background, would be more able to deal with ROP'ers.

Yes, but they didn’t threaten violence, either. And when the film came out there were no bloody protests or assassinations of the film makers.

From the link....

The move by Pakistani authorities to block access to the website caused an accidental near global blackout of YouTube on Sunday.

And that was just the trailer.

Yes, but the people making the fuss were NOT the followers of the Christian religion, but their enemies.

It was a bid to silence the supporters, not the critics.

BIG DIFFEREENCE!

Since no one has seen the film yet, I wonder why so many people are upset.

They’ve already read the book!

Sura (2:191-193) - "And slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution of Muslims is worse than slaughter of non-believers...and fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is for Allah."

Sura (5:33) - "The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement"

Sura (8:12) - "I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them"

Bukhari (52:177) - Allah's Apostle said, "The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. "O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him."

Tabari 7:97 The morning after the murder of Ashraf, the Prophet declared,"Kill any Jew who falls under your power."

Ibn Ishaq: 327 - “Allah said, ‘A prophet must slaughter before collecting captives. A slaughtered enemy is driven from the land. Muhammad, you craved the desires of this world, its goods and the ransom captives would bring. But Allah desires killing them to manifest the religion.’”

The Boston Phoenix honestly gave the reason why the cartoons weren't published and it is why today the Infidels are afraid of Muslim retaliation from Wilders film.

February 10, 2006 3:01:12 PM
"Out of fear of retaliation from the international brotherhood of radical and bloodthirsty Islamists who seek to impose their will on those who do not believe as they do. This is, frankly, our primary reason for not publishing any of the images in question. Simply stated, we are being terrorized, and as deeply as we believe in the principles of free speech and a free press, we could not in good conscience place the men and women who work at the Phoenix and its related companies in physical jeopardy. As we feel forced, literally, to bend to maniacal pressure, this may be the darkest moment in our 40-year publishing history."

I think you'll find the Dutch some of the most fervent supporters of free speech on the planet. Theo van Gogh is a martyr for the cause and Geert Wilders is a champion with big set of brass ones. When it comes to freedom of speech the Dutch deserve respect.
