There's nothing into which Saturday Night Live can't work its liberal politics--even a conventional game-show sketch. NBC aired a re-run of the February 24th SNL last night, and watching it this morning I spotted what you might call an anti-Ann Coulter product placement.
In "What's That Bitch Talking About?" two contestants viewing a succession of women offering bare snippets of dialogue have to guess what they're talking about. The male contestant is consistently clueless. But Tina Fey's character gets it uncannily right every time, down to details that would in reality be impossible to guess. Sample: a woman murmuring "okay" into a phone is indeed getting directions to a margarita party to celebrate her graduation from DeVry, etc.
The male loser is naturally sent packing, but not before he receives a lovely parting gift in the form of the home edition of "What's That Bitch Talking About?" Cut to a quick close-up of the package featuring four women: Whitney Houston, Queen Elizabeth, a beauty queen who's presumably Miss South Carolina of "US Americans" fame, and, most prominently featured . . . Ann Coulter. See screencap.

SNL anti-Ann Coulter product placement ping to Today show list.
Loren Michaels is voting for McCain.
Just more proof our Ann has got them rattled. She’d probably be flattered by this.
Is that show still on? ...go figure...
Agreed. All publicity is good publicity, etc.
Poor Hillary failed to make the cut.
I don’t think it was on last night, but they had that guy from Knocked up and Superbad on and it was one of the best shows in years. They had Suse Ormond skit that was hillarious. Just an all around great show. Even Mariah Carey who I can’t stand had two pretty decent songs that she sang. I think Saturday Night Live might be getting back to those 1980’s days. Besides if they make fun of Ann Culter I have no problem with it because they make fun of everyone!!!
Yeah, too bad.
If Liberals did understand what Ann was talking about, this world would be a better place.
Rosie didn’t make the cut either...darn.
I have no beef either, though this was a bit different. Instead of openly making Coulter the subject of a skit, they worked it into this “product placement.” As such, it reflects more of SNL’s own editorializing rather than an attempt at humor.
Sorry to hear that. SNL always seemed to be fair, but now might be trying “trickery”. I hope they don’t do that too often. People are not stupid.
Or to use the football term, “trickeration” ;-)
I think someone's going to have to post some comparison photos (the mouth and chin look off, too...)
Can Michaels vote in a US election?
Yes, it’s Ann. Have a look at the video if the screencap doesn’t convince you.
The real issue here is not SNL’s animus towards Ann Coulter. That is completely understandable.
The more important question is what in the world do they have against Queen Elizabeth?
Good question. BTW, according to Open Secrets, Lorne gave $2300 to McCain's campaign last year.
they know what she is talking about. they make fun of her to try to intimidate her. it is NOT working...
I can never understand her when she's talking. That's probably why they used her photo.
I remember a Martin and Lewis TV show parody of a wildly popular "isolation booth" game show.
(I believe there was stuff in the news about how a particular show was rigged, though this sketch may have preceded the controversy.)
Lewis was the contestant and entered the isolation booth. Martin smoking a cigarette blew some smoke into the booth. The booth, of course, instantly filled with smoke obscuring Lewis.
A series of questions followed: the brand of the cigarette, the state where the tobacco was grown, the county, the name of the tobacco farmer. . .
Lewis, though struggling, beat the clock each time with the correct answer.
OK, I’m convinced.
So what?
To each his own. I found it kind of sneaky.
LOL, I just realized my wife must be on that!
Has Lorne Michaels become a naturalized American citizen? Otherwise he can’t vote being a Canadian.
Hold on to you %*&*@@8# hat!
I don't know.
When this whole question (in the MSM) came up with the political bias of SNL, Micheals was asked the question and he said that he is voting for McCain.
Since her hiring, hasn't the show plummeted and spiraled downard? I stopped watching that show over five plus years ago, maybe more.
She's only good for one thing and she can come over Saturday evening...but leave before sun up.
Ah, they should included Michelle Obama saying it’s the first time she’s ever been proud of her country!
The Martin and Lewis sketch I recalled above contained smoking a cigarette.
The smoking in the Martin and Lewis sketch was simply used, the gist of the sketch was quiz show fraud. There is no constitutional right to fraud.
Today another vulgarity rules: strings of dailycuss four-letter words are considered mature discourse and essential to expressing one's feeeeeeeeeeelings.
The vulgarity in the SNL sketch was simply used, the gist of the sketch was "problematic" free speech. Ms Coulter was a target.
Before recently, sending someone off for "sensitivity" training was unheard of outside of National Socialist Germany or Uncle Joe's socialist paradise.
Today.. well when Ms Coulter brings up the issue of forced sensitivity training (virtual re-education camps) the "intellectuals" (self-described) make her the issue and "comedy" responds.
(I am referring to just one example, the "I won't call him a faggot because I don't want to be sent to re-education camp" comment.)
Is that an admission of drug use in the '80s?
People actually still watch Saturday Night Live?
OMG that skit was hilarious!
I loved the part where they said not to take this is you ever plan to get pregnant because it could turn your baby into a fire monster!
She puts herself out there for her own profit and tries to be outrageous. IMO she crosses the line of propriety once in a while herself. That’s why I say ‘so what’ if the table is occasionally turned. I would not feel the same if others were similarly mocked by the kids on SNL.
You know, I’ve heard some Freepers ask essentially the same question, albeit with a little more class.
