Lovelock: Paris A Desert, China 'Uninhabitable' By 2040
Business and Media Institute ^ | March 22, 2008 | Jeff Poor

Posted on 03/23/2008 4:35:36 PM PDT by Conservative Vermont Vet

It’s not a script for the next science-fiction thriller, but renowned British scientist James Lovelock is giving human civilization less than 32 years before all hell breaks loose because of the effects of global warming.

Lovelock said the impact of climate change is irreversible regardless of what mankind does.

“By 2040, the world population of more than six billion will have been culled by floods, drought and famine,”

In 32 years I will be only 97, and I hope that between now and then, if I ever get as senile as this old fool and begin suffering from same sort of dementia, that someone will take me out back and put me out of my misery

For the rest of you who are younger, I'd counsel you to begin getting your house in order.

In fact, we might as well simply begin adhering to what Dr. Timothy Leary used to suggest. "Turn on, tune in, and drop out."

Hey, its all over but the shouting!!

Moreover, just when I was seriously thinking about giving up smoking, endulging in foods which contain trans fats, imbibing in an occasional adult beverage and quit chasing nubile young lasses so that I might live to be 100.

Why bother?

“Gaia” (after allowing us to live on its 4.6 bn year old planet for some 200,000 years) is about to exact its revenge on us mere mortals for somehow, having “Pissed her off,”

And we all know that “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.”

Seriously, what is really frightening is that Eco-Moonbats such as this are actually listened to and their opinions are sought and accepted.

"According to the article, Lovelock has the ear of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and even the Queen of England. The 88-year-old scientist also supports the work of the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). “Firms such as Shell have consulted him about his theories. Prince Charles has invited him to lecture at his summer school this year,” said the article.

Loveock is also the one who coined and developed the theory of "Gaia,"

"First formulated by Lovelock during the 1960s as a result of work for NASA concerned with detecting life on Mars, the Gaia hypothesis proposes that living and non-living parts of the earth form a complex interacting system that can be thought of as a single organism. Named after the Greek goddess Gaia, the hypothesis postulates that the biosphere has a regulatory effect on the Earth's environment that acts to sustain life.

Some folks just cannot admit they are wrong... When you continue to make statements out of ignorance, you look ignorant. When you continue to make statements despite the evidence clearly proving you are wrong, you look like a raving idiot.

Those “scientists” who continue to put stock in “global warming” should be view as suspect, as should all future research that comes from their lab or pen.

The Cult of Global Hot Air won’t hear that part,
because it implies we might as well stop wasting
effort on doing anything about it, and THAT is
inconsistent with their underlying agenda.

It’s best to do a title search on one main word from the title. I did a “title” search for “paris” to find the other thread.

I expect in a few months they will be screeching.

People have been feeding the ecological doomsday myth ever since the time of Malthus. The sad part is that society as a whole hasn’t caught onto to the scam after all these years. Who knows, maybe it’s Tenth bitten, Eleventh shy.

Every time one of these “scientists” makes a prediction, they should have to put up $100,000 that they would lose if their prediction does not come true. I think the hot air they put out would be quickly diminished if they had to do this!

Ahh, I have a new favorite song that might just fit that - #4 Green Grow the Rushes at - http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=106366

There’s naught but care on every hand In ever hour that passes, O What signifies the life of man If it were not for the lassies, O

Chorus

Green grow the rushes, O Green grow the rushes, O The sweetest hours that e’er I spent Are spent among the lassies, O

The worldly race may riches chase And riches still may fly them, O And though at last they catch them fast Their hearts can ne’er enjoy them, O

Chorus

Give me a cannie hour at e’en My arms around me dearie, O The wisest man the world e’er saw He dearly loved the lassies, O

Chorus

Old nature swears the lovely dears Her noblest work she classes, O Her apprentice hand she tried on man And then she made the lassies, O

Chorus

Green grow the rushes Green grow the rushes

Desert will not be China's problem.

When predicting the future of this century, one would be advised to consider Gordon-Micael Scallion's visons:
When satellites capture images of our beautiful blue and green planet during the next millennium, will we recognize the shapes they show us? It can be difficult to comprehend all at once the incredible Earth changes which Gordon-Michael Scallion has predicted. What will our planet actually look like after these changes are complete? Based on over 25 years of visions he has received on the subject, this award winning wall map is the definitive illustration of GMS’ Earth change predictions. Giant-sized for easy viewing, this map covers changes for all continents, as well as new islands that will be created, rising from the oceans’ floors. As GMS explains in the map’s text, “I feel that sharing this information will identify areas that should be watched… and supply benchmarks that may be used to warn of impending changes as these scenarios unfold.”

“White Americans are descended from those who had the guts to cross on rough old ships and find a new life,” Lovelock said. “They have the right spirit of can-do.”

This is the idiot who dreamed up "The Gaia Hypothesis."

“Gaian perception connects us with the seamless nature of existence, and opens up a new approach to scientific research based on scientific institutions arising from scientists’ personal, deeply subjective ecological experience. When the young scientist in training has sat on a mountain top, and has completed her first major assignment to ‘think like a mountain’, that is, to dwell and deeply identify with a mountain, mechanistic thinking will never take root in her mind. When she eventually goes out to practise her science in the world, she will be fully aware that every interconnected aspect of it has its own intrinsic value, irrespective of its usefulness to the economic activities of human beings.” – STEPHAN HARDING

Gaia was supposedly a Minoan earth goddess, adopted by a clearly wealthy, and reputedly earth-worshiping and pacifist civilization on Crete. Unfortunately, the popular beliefs about Minoan civilization largely represent the neurotic whimsy of Sir Arthur Evans, the first major excavator at Knossos. Evans (a homosexual pedophile) was obsessed with proving that Minoan civilization had Aryan origins, and demonstrated a propensity to contort his observations in order to project upon them Druidic beliefs. Current evidence suggests that constantly warring Minoan city-states were overrun by Mycenaean Greeks, perhaps after a nearby volcanic eruption. Maybe they had been weakened and their numbers were reduced. They did sometimes eat their children. One thing that we do know: They are no longer with us.

I’d hate to remind this guy - when the dinosaurs were running around, there is no evidence of ice at the poles. It is estimated at 10-15 degrees warmer 65 million years ago than it is today. The ice age cycle we currently have only started 40 million years ago. So by the historical thesis, we have a lot of warming up to do.

The estimates that 90% will die off is just like the Elrich (is that the spelling?) Doomsayer from the 1990s. Yet there are twice as many people AND a higher standard of living.
If it got 10 degrees hotter:
Russians would stay just where they are AND make a killing exploiting Siberia, and can get rich selling homesteading rights to Europeans
Chinese move into Tibet as well as northern China, where it gets to 50 degrees below in the winter
Antarctica becomes modern day Iceland.
And we’d probably figure out really good air conditioning methods by 2040 too.
