Milorad Cavic acted according to his girlfriend’s advice: Nadezda is to blame for my decision

Serbian hero Milorad Cavic long ago brought his decision to become a professional swimmer, but only a couple of weeks ago realised he was not only an athlete but also his nation’s ambassador. He consequently decided to wear a T-shirt that read “Kosovo is Serbia” in Serbian to a European Swimming Championships medal ceremony in Eindhoven, Holland.

The red shirt which according to Cavic bore a “message of positive energy to the Serbian people” cost the swimmer his further taking part in the competition’s races and possibly another gold medal and a European record – all in the 100-metre butterfly event. It has been a frequent talking point why Cavic had opted to wear the named shirt – if it had been instructed to him by a Serbia-based political party, or possibly a bet. The reason behind his decision is quite harmless. - “A lot of people seem to think my gesture was politically-motivated but I assure you that it simply isn’t true. My girlfriend Nadezda visited me in my home in Florida and brought me a badge bearing the same message – “Kosovo is Serbia”. I’ve realized I’m not just an athlete but my country’s ambassador and whenever and wherever I can I must try and help my people. The move in Eindhoven is a part of that. As long as I am in a position to have my voice heard by many I will continue to do that. I know the conditions in which people live in Serbia. The writing on the shirt is very familiar to all Serbian people and you can’t have a better message to the entire world than breaking a European swimming record,” says Cavic. The European 50-metre butterfly record holder and champion in the 50-metre pool has a girlfriend Nadezda who supports him in his actions fully, as she herself used to be an athlete. Cavic is to stay for another few days in Serbia in order to spend time with his girlfriend and friends, when he returns to the swimming camp in Florida. - “After the Olympic Games in Beijing I plan to spend some more time in Belgrade for a number of reasons. I learned the Cyrillic alphabet four years ago and I’d like to master the Serbian language, find out more about the Serbian people, culture and mentality. Then there’s my girlfriend, of course. We’ve been together and it’s been really great for us. I’ve wanted to get to know the Belgrade lifestyle, as I couldn’t do that before during my brief visits to Serbia. Now it could all change. I’d also like to start a business in Serbia one day.” Elsewhere, Milorad still has work to do at the China Olympics, to prove the LEN were wrong to suspend him and rid him of the opportunity to attempt the 100-metre gold at the Olympic Games. - “My only dream is a medal at the Olympic Games and that’s I need to be ready both emotionally and physically. It would be the greatest success for me as an athlete,” adds the Partizan Belgrade swimmer Cavic.

(who wrote the headline? George Soros?)

Nowhere in the article does he "blame" Nadezda. In fact he is proud of his actions!
