Local antiwar groups filed suit in U.S. District Court in Minneapolis today seeking an injunction to order the city of St. Paul to grant a march route for a demonstration on Sept. 1, the first day of the Republican National Convention.
Accusing city authorities of violating the protesters' free speech, the lawsuit alleges that city officials have frustrated their efforts to obtain a march route between the State Capitol to the Xcel Energy Center and back to the Capitol.
Named in the suit are Mayor Chris Coleman, St. Paul Police Chief John Harrington and his assistant chief, Matt Bostrom, who is in charge of security for the convention.
A motion for a preliminary injunction is also expected to be filed today.
The local demonstration will focus on opposition to the Iraq war, and is expected to draw thousands of demonstrators.
High security in St. Paul is a certainty at the Sept. 1-4 GOP convention where U.S. Senator John McCain is expected to be nominated for President.

Sweet......
I left a nice comment on the video.
There's always such a contrast between the two groups - Our side should bring peace offerings to the other side - like bars of soap.
Our troops can't demonstrate = even ones stationed here. We the People need to stand up for them...and the ones still in harms way need to know we're here for them. We'll fight on this side.
I noticed in that video that they didn’t actually use soap.
