ALBANY - Gov. Paterson, who confessed to repeated infidelities last week, admitted tonight that he used cocaine and marijuana when he was in his 20s.
Paterson, 53, the former lieutenant governor who succeeded disgraced Gov. Spitzer last week, claimed on NY1 that he had only used cocaine "a couple of times" when he was "22 or 23" years of age.
He said he had only used marijuana "probably when I was about 20," adding, "I don't think I've touched marijuana since the late 70s."

In other words, he's taking the "20-20 Hindsight" defense.
But he didn't inhale.
There isn’t anything these liberals don’t do that might be considered by others as “unacceptable” or “illegal”.
Liberals believe everything is okay until they may become embarrassed by it becoming known. Then they try to cover their butts.
A damn selfish lot of people, I’d say.
Come on New York...what a bunch of absolute corrupt losers you have placed in line for your Governosr. Unbelievable, shameful, embarassing, and disgusting.
I was wondering why he looked so SPACED!
That stuff was pretty commonplace back in the 70’s if you were in that age bracket.
Not sayin it is right.
Just sayin.
Who cares?
Anybody still living in NY is either a masochist or retarded.
I’m of that age and never used it and haven’t been unfaithful to my spouse. Maybe I should run for Gov!

Somehow I hear the Eagles song ‘Dirty laundry’ playing in the back of my mind at this time...
You’d have to be extra brave (or extra stupid) to trust someone giving your drugs when you’re blind.
“Here take these pills.”
“Oh, okay.”

Title : Dirty Laundry
Well, I coulda been an actor, but I wound up here
I just have to look good, I dont have to be clear
Come and whisper in my ear
Give us dirty laundry
Kick em when theyre up
Kick em when theyre down
Kick em when theyre up
Kick em when theyre down
Kick em when theyre up
Kick em when theyre down
Kick em when theyre up
Kick em all around
We got the bubble-headed-bleach-blonde who
Comes on at five
She can tell you bout the plane crash with a gleam
In her eye
Its interesting when people die-
Give us dirty laundry
Can we film the operation?
Is the head dead yet?
You know, the boys in the newsroom got a
Running bet
Get the widow on the set!
We need dirty laundry
You dont really need to find out whats going on
You dont really want to know just how far its gone
Just leave well enough alone
Eat your dirty laundry
Kick em when theyre up
Kick em when theyre down
Kick em when theyre up
Kick em when theyre down
Kick em when theyre up
Kick em when theyre down
Kick em when theyre stiff
Kick em all around
Dirty little secrets
Dirty little lies
We got our dirty little fingers in everybodys pie
We love to cut you down to size
We love dirty laundry
We can do the innuendo
We can dance and sing
When its said and done we havent told you a thing
We all know that crap is king
Give us dirty laundry!
At least it wasn’t heroin... : )
Drug use at 20 doesn’t worry me. The fact that Kennedy and Kerry act like they’re still on drugs does worry me!! I really worry about the fact that this appears to be the “best” our country can offer. To paraphrase C3PO: “We’re doomed!”
I disagree. There are some fine places and people all over New York...and particularly upstate.
Anything else he’d like to confess to?
I’m thinking at this rate, he might be confessing to a few murders by June.
Why don't you keep your stupid remarks to yourself. Where do you live genius? I'm sure I can find a lot things to say about youe state. Yes I live in New York. I don't like what goes on here either but I don't consider the good hard working people of the state retarded or Masochistic. You sir are a jerk.
A new form of leader.
The World hasn’t seen decadence like this since Caligula’s Rome.
Nothing good going on there or anywhere else in NY state.
Get out while you can for your family's sake.
HELLO Gov. Bruno !
But, to your point, the decadence at this time in history, and not just in New York, in those areas where we know it exists, is sickening.
If it becomes wholly endemic...we will all pay a very steep and horrific price. And it is up to "we the people" to fix it.
II Chron 7:14
Hope no pictures “pop up”, real soon!
“Get out while you can for your family’s sake.”
I live in San Diego and feel the same way about L.A., LOL!
"Hey, you think he was bad? Wait til you hear what I did!"
LOL!
How about the far more recent 13 nights with his mistress in downtown Albany hotels using taxpayer money (using his state credit card). That worries me more.
This guy is the Gov in Blazing Saddles!! Photo please.
I was in that age bracket but I have never to this day seen cocaine.

Days INN (real high class)
That is Clinton-speak for "I now use a roach clip."
Or at least a sex-change operation.
Why don't you get out of where you live. Nothing good is going on there either.
For at least a few weeks, until the FBI investigation of Bruno heats up. At this rate, some new state govt. intern out of high school in Buffalo will be governor by the time this is over.
“Anybody still living in NY is either a masochist or retarded.”
As long as they don’t come to Texas.
It was a solo hit by Don Henley in 1983 after the Eagles broke up.
Henley raised a few eyebrows at the time as I recall. His own colorful personal history did not leave him in a position to be so self-righteous. Then again the song narrator is a fictional character.
NEXT !!
I don’t doubt it a bit. Not saying everyone WAS doing it, but I can say that it was very common to go to a given party and see people smoke openly. There were people who thought I was a narc.
That revelation comes next week.
Where's the popcorn boy?
Get him outta there...........!
LOL! Soon to be followed by, “I think he said, ‘The Sheriff is near!’”
"I don't think I've touched marijuana since the late 70s."same as NOT TO MY KNOWLEDGE...
PROOF that he's lying or he would of said he HASN'T!!!
Paterson is the east coast’s version of “Rocky Mountain High”, with an emphasis on the “high”.
Damned. The Big Apple state is getting more rotten by the minute.
Re “Anything else he’d like to confess to?”
yes:
The disappearance of Judge Crater, the Black Dahlia Murder, knows where Jimmy Hoffa is buried (and buried and buried), the secrets of Area 51 and the Bermuda Triangle, and why New York Democrats are such crooks and adulterers.
Totally agree.
Don't worry. They are coming and it's only a matter of time before they get there.

You could possibly consider marijuana as commonplace ‘back then’, but not cocaine.
