BEIJING - One policeman was killed and several others injured in riots Monday in western Sichuan province, Chinas state media reported.
The official Xinhua News Agency gave no other details regarding the riot.
Xinhua also said that 381 people involved in protests in another Sichuan county, Aba, had surrendered to police, according to local authorities.
The Communist leadership has faced the biggest challenge to its rule in the Himalayan area in nearly two decades after protests in the Tibetan capital of Lhasa exploded into violence on March 14, sparking sympathy protests in the neighboring provinces of Sichuan, Gansu and Qinghai.
Protests also have spread to Nepal and India.

IMHO, it must be much worse than they report for them to report it at all.

This is the year that the ChiComs were planning to say, “Look at us! We are a happy, united people and will prove it to the world.” The oppressed wisely chose the regime’s “Showcase Year” to show the real China to the world and force the regime’s hand. This is not 1989 - there are alternative media. Power to the people.

Bumper sticker ideas, recycled from the Sixties.
“What if they gave an Olympics, but nobody came?”
“Make music, not games!”
“Boycott Olympics Sponsors”
“Tibet, si; China, NO!”
“No mo’ Mao!”

The Chi Coms have tried to destroy Tibetan culture by forcibly relocating Tibetans to other Chinese provinces and moving ethnic Chinese into Tibet.
But the PRC failed to realize that while you can take people from their lands and take lands from the people, you cant destroy their heart and soul. And my heart and soul is with the Tibetan people.
But while the Tibetan struggle is a modern day and admirable David and Goliath story, very sadly, I think the US and many other nations will only pay lip service to their cause. We will make some statements and some protests but in the end we will acquiesce to the juggernaut that the Chinese economy and military might has become, one that despite the warnings of some who were dismissed as nut cases, many have warned us about for years.

Good idea. Someone in Germany made that. Good for them. It would make good confetti strips to strew in the path of the torch as it goes around the world.
