WASHINGTON -- U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton said Tuesday she made a mistake in claiming that she came under hostile fire in Bosnia 12 years ago, as rival Sen. Barack Obama's campaign continued to challenge her credibility.
In a recent speech and interviews, the New York senator described a harrowing scene in Tuzla, Bosnia, in which she and her daughter, Chelsea, had to run for cover as soon as they landed for a visit in 1996. But video footage of the day showed a peaceful reception in which a young girl greeted the first lady on the tarmac.
Clinton told reporters in Pennsylvania on Tuesday that she erred in describing the scene, which she now realizes after talking with aides and others.
"So I made a mistake," she said. "That happens. It proves I'm human, which you know, for some people, is a revelation.".............."

You're right, it looks TERRIBLE and it's a major humiliation. If she only had an ounce of shame she'd realize how bad it is.
The “human mistake” she made was in thinking that the media would cover for her if it ever surfaced that she was lying.

I suppose Hillary called in the airstrike to supress sniper fire. Unfortunately she had an old map and the airstrike took out the Chinese Embassy in Bosnia.
“We were watching re-runs of the TV series ‘24’ while on the plane, and my mom probably got confused about what was happening on the movie screen and what was happening in real life. Anyone could have made that mistake.”
Problem: It has already been pointed out that the Bosnia trip was in 1996, the show "24" didn't debut until 2001. Chelsea is about as good a liar as mom, and nowhere near Uncle Bill's skill.
Wouldn't it be ironic if Bosnia destroyed the Clintons the way the Clintons destroyed Bosnia?
She repeated it on a number of occasions. But landing in a hot zone and being fired on is something you don't forget; especially when you have your daughter with you. It's not the kind of thing you get mixed up. So her recanting now is in itself deception.
This was far more then a mistake lady. You lied and you knew it.
It worked when bill told his stories about black church fires he remember back when he was a kid back. The press is just being unfair.

1] She mixed this story up with events that happened on a trip to Iraq where they did have to spiral in to the airport.
2] There was gunfire in the hills in Bosnia.
There are several threads on this already, but for some reason I don’t mind repeating myself on this one.
1. Did the Witch not realize that had she actually been shot at, that would have been news all over the world instantly?
2. Does the Witch have so little experience with just the world in general that she does not realize that, had she actually been shot at by snipers, there is NO WAY that she just would have continued on with her visit as though nothing had happend?
3. Is the Witch so stupid as to not know that had she actually been shot at by snipers, even with her clown of a husband as Prez, there would have been some sort of official U.S. action, possibly even military action against the perps?
4. Does the Witch not have a clue that, even if she had been shot at by snipers, that in no way, shape or form confers any type of expertise-—much less “foreign policy” expertise-—upon her, the victim?
5. Is the Witch so ignorant that she does not know that the attempted assasination of the First Lady of the United States would be considered a highly belligerant act that would have caused tremendous repercussions in Europe and at the United Nations?
6. Has the Witch any inkling at all that any sniper attempt on her life would have been an act of gross terrorism that would have been added to the other acts of gross terrorism that occurred during her husband’s tenure, and which were ignored or misunderstood to our country’s detriment? And thus this incident (had it occurred) once again would have been part of that discussion after 9/11? Probably even important enough to be depicted in the film “Road to 9/11”?
7. Does the Witch not realize that this is the 21st century and that NO ONE—not even the pathological ‘Toons-—can get away with these blatant lies any more? Has she not heard of the internet, that thing that Al Gore invented?

To try to sell one's self as as one who would endure gunfire to comfort our overseas troops (when in fact, there were no "sniper" risks, just little kids to greet her) is a lie that exceeds the norms of mere gratuitousness and condescension.
No, lies of this type are not "errors" or "mistakes"; nor are they "human".
