HILLARY IN MILITARY HISTORY: No. 1 - Her Mission on the Enola Gay

In this series, exclusive to FreeRepublic, we will examine the military resume of Senator Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton. She did much more than dodge sniper fire in Bosnia with her daughter because Bill was too afraid to go, and the voters are entitled to know about her exploits before they decide whom they want for commander in chief.

===================================================================================

HILLARY IN MILITARY HISTORY: No. 1 - Her Mission on the Enola Gay (the name of the plane has nothing to do with the rumors about her sexual orientation)

At approximately 2:00 on the morning of August 6th, the Enola Gay, which was carrying an atomic bomb (Little Boy), started on the long flight from Tinian. Two observation planes carrying cameras and scientific instruments followed behind her.

After 6:00, the bomb was fully armed on board the Enola Gay. Tibbets announced to the crew that the the plane was carrying the world's first atomic bomb used in combat.

The trip to Japan was smooth. At about 7:00 o'clock, the Japanese radar net detected aircraft heading toward Japan, and they broadcast the alert throughout the Hiroshima area. Soon afterward an American weather plane circled over the city, but there was no sign of bombers. The people began their daily work and thought that the danger had passed.

At 7:25, the Enola Gay, at 26,000 feet, was cruising over Hiroshima. At 8:00 the Japanese detected again two B-29's heading toward Hiroshima. The radio stations quickly broadcast a warning for the people to take shelter, but many did not follow the advice. They thought that it was the same as first time.

At 8:09, the crew of the Enola Gay could see the city appear below; it was time to drop the bomb. Just then, they received a message indicating that the weather was good over Hiroshima. The bomb was released at 8:16 a.m. A terrible, strong and unimaginable explosion occurred near the central section of the city. The crew of the Enola Gay saw a column of smoke rising fast and intense fires springing up.

THE WHITE HOUSE
Washington
January 12, 1953

My Dear Professor Cate;

Your letter of December 6, 1952 has just been delivered to me. When the message came to Potsdam that a successful atomic explosion had taken place in New Mexico, there was much excitement and conversation about the effect on the war then in progress with Japan. The next day I told the Prime Minsiter of Great Britain and Generalissimo Stalin that the explosion had been a success. The British Prime Minister understood and appreciated what I'd told him. Premier Stalin smiled and thanked me for reporting the explosion to him, but I'm sure he did not understand its significance. I called a meeting of the Secretary of State, Mr. Byrnes, the Secretary of War, Mr. Stimson, Admiral Leahy, General Marshall, General Eisenhower, Admiral King and some others, to discuss what should be done with this awful weapon.

I asked General Marshall what it would cost in lives to land on the Tokyo plain and other places in Japan. It was his opinion that such an invasion would cost at a minimum one quarter of a million casualties, and might cost as much as a million, on the American side alone, with an equal number of the enemy. The other military and naval men present agreed. I asked Secretary Stimson which sites in Japan were devoted to war production. He promptly named Hiroshima and Nagasaki, among others. We sent an ultimatum to Japan. It was rejected.

I ordered atomic bombs dropped on the two cities named on the way back from Potsdam, when we were in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. In your letter, you raise the fact that the directive to General Spaatz to prepare for delivering the bomb is dated July twenty-fifth. It was, of course, necessary to set the military wheels in motion, as these orders did, but the final decision was in my hands, and was not made until we were returning from Potsdam. Dropping the bombs ended the war, saved lives, and gave the free nations a chance to face the facts. When it looked as if Japan would quit, Russia hurried into the fray less than a week before the surrender, so as to be in at the settlement. No military contribution was made by the Russians toward victory over Japan. Prisoners were surrendered and Manchuria occupied by the Soviets, as was Korea, North of the 38th parallel.

Sincerely,
(The letter was signed by Harry Truman.)

I’m falling out of the chair laughing. Didn’t she discover America, too? Or was that Al Gore.

All of which makes her uniquely qualified to answer those 3:00AM phone calls with her finger poised on the nuclear trigger (while she fumbles with her other hand for the Aleve and estrogen tablets.)

(Huma in the background calling Warren Christopher for advice.)

No. She was the first to fly the Atlantic solo. That was after she led the charge up San Juan Hill, and stopped Lee at Gettysburg.

Good stuff!

Here's something I posted today after seeing the list on CBS's web site:

CBS news today posted all of the lies that Hillary Clinton has told, that they have reported. I added some I could recall that were not on the list.

Some Hillary and BJ (Bill Jefferson Clinton) words (CBS enhanced _ _ _).

The Clintons will say or do anything to remain in power. We saw that with the pardons, the Chinese military money, the crimes in the WH, and on and on. Here's a few highlights:

1. I remember when I was a boy they burned the black churches in our area -BJ Clinton No black churches burned in Arkansas during that period.

2. I did not have sex with that woman. -BJ Clinton

3. I was named after Sir Edmund Hillary.- Hillary Rodham. She was born years before Edmund Hillary became internationally known.

4. Chelsea was at a job interview near the twin towers when the plane hit. -HRC Not even close. Chelsea said she was home watching it on TV.

5. We were under sniper fire. -HRC (This weeks Bosnia lie. When she deplaned there was a group meeting here. Children were present and everyone was standing around and smiling. The Colonel and the pilots said that if there was any threat to the first lady, the plane would have been diverted. Many in the military are insulted by the lie because it implies they didn't do their job. This lie was told four times in the last two months before the CBS reporter who was on the trip called her on it.)

6. I have thirty-five years of experience for the presidency. -HRC

7. When I was a student at Yale, I used to walk around Harlem a lot. --BJ Clinton

A little known fact..........

The guy to Clinton's left in the 1st photo that seems to be trying to cop a feel was later found dead in an empty field...........it was years later that the land the body was found upon would come to be known as Ft. Marcy Park.

You got it all wrong!

She was for the dropping of the bomb only because she was fed false intelligence on the war (She was tricked, and this became obvious as soon as the bad pictures and public sentiment changed). She's actually against the dropping of the bomb now, though she voted for it, maybe, not sure, depends on what the opinion polls say that day and what she remembers the truth to be.

I can just see her anti-channeling Sally Field Oscar style screaming "Doug, you really HATE me!" Evil chuckles...

I'm enjoying the beginning of the Hitlery Band Camp war chronicles...carbuncles...cankles?

What's next? Hillary at Valley Forge? Gettysburg?

Nice Doug, thanks!

Her biggest mistake was that she was supposed to fly that last flight with Amelia Earhart but she overslept and missed the flight. Too bad.
