Monks disrupt journalists' tour of Tibet Editor's note: CNN was denied permission to join the group of reporters to Tibet by China's foreign ministry.
LHASA, Tibet (AP) -- A government-managed visit by foreign reporters to Tibet's capital backfired Thursday when Buddhist monks disrupted the tour, screaming that there was no religious freedom and that the Dalai Lama was not to blame for Lhasa's recent violence.

GO AMERICA -- YEAH!!!! /sarcasm off/
I'd love to see Tibet prevail in this.
BOYCOTT.
The ones harmed most by a boycott will be the athletes who have worked hard and smart enough to qualify to compete. Better to use the Games as best we can to project a positive image of the U.S.
Uh oh, more monky business.
I’m for a boycott too.
And hold all of the games in Greece.
If China did not control a substantial portion of our economy, I suppose we might actually do something about this.
Thing is, Bush won't intervene because of the wonderful global acceptance of Kosovo. How do you project a positive image of the US in China...by winning more medals than them?

I got a kick out of this video last night on the evening news. I can’t believe the stiffs in Beijing didn’t see something like this coming. Unfortunately, I doubt the monks will ever been seen again.

The US government lost all credibility on human rights when it unlinked the issue as a pre-requisite to Permanent Normal Trade Relations with China.
Have to agree with you on that statement. Last week’s removal of China from the State Dept. list of human rights violators was a shameful act too.
These monks have to be taken seriously. There can be no doubt that they know, from the bottom of their hearts, that every claim they make is true. They know that speaking up will result in imprisonment and torture at the least and very likely their deaths.
