There wouldn't have been any situation if others there were allowed to carry. A lot can happen in seven minutes.
This has gotten much uglier. Two children, family members of the woman, were found dead in their home.
I wonder what kind of medication this killer was on. They’ll make a bigger deal about the type of gun.
Here is an excerpt of the campus-wide email:
As you know by now, the University of Louisville was faced with an emergency situation today when a student held a counselor at our Belknap Campus Student Health Services building hostage. Later this morning, the students children were found dead, and she has been charged with their murders.
Thanks to the professionalism of our counseling center, our police department and others, the campus situation was quickly defused. The process they undertook was the result of careful planning and cooperation among many individuals throughout campus ultimately resulting in no injuries and a peaceful resolution to the campus situation.
In an effort to keep everyone informed, here is a brief summary of what we know so far. The incident began when at about 8:32 a.m. our police department received a routine call to transport someone from Student Health Services to an off-site mental health facility. At about 8:46 a.m., the officer reported that the student was armed with a handgun.
Other officers were dispatched to the scene, where their first priority was the safety of the people in the immediate area and the hostage. They immediately began evacuating the building, securing all exits and establishing a perimeter to keep our students, faculty and staff out of harms way.
At 9:17 a.m., officers on the scene advised that the situation was under control and that the student had been disarmed.
Our hearts go out to the friends and family of this student and her children, and to others who have been affected by this tragedy.
The university is still open, and no classes or activities have been cancelled or changed.
How awful!
Prayers lifted for her poor children.
Thanks, Sarge, for the university explanation. 7 minutes for the campus police to get there? Hmmm...
Why can’t these angry people take themselves out of the picture, or just out, and leave the children alone. Prayers for the kids.
When seconds count, the police are only seven minutes away.
