Many of the loyalists tried to do that, even in Bush2's 2nd term.
I posted many times that some day they were going to have to realize that Bush had been in the Oval Office since 2001 and HE was responsible. The bushbots didn't like that.

I may be corrected, but I think Savage has his facts backwards on the Boeing/Airbus situation. There were some shenanigans on the part of Boeing and some people when to prison for trying to rig the deal if I remember correctly, and McCain was against the graft going on.

On paper (website) CP sounds good, except for their foreign policy, which is lacking and out of touch with reality.
It will be interesting to see how much they placate the 'maverick' contenders.
Too many times, these 3rd party efforts attract real characters. I recall Buchanan and his destruction of Perot's Reform political party. That was a shame. This nation needs a strong 3rd party to bring the other two back to reality, as they seem to have merged into a single party with two wings (sort of like the old NFL and AFL merging into the new NFL).

This is how to do it:
Tell the 2/3rds to 80% of the real Republican congs and senators that they have one month to resign from the R party and join a 3rd party, or else we won’t re-elect them. Then all those people must attend the 3rd party convention and we select a nominee different from McCain. If we get more than half of the officeholders to leave the R party, it could happen.
