Clinton Camp Compares Rev. Wright to David Duke
newsmax.com ^ | 03/27/08 | Newsmax Staff

Posted on 03/27/2008 7:06:16 PM PDT by TornadoAlley3

A Hillary Clinton aide has ratcheted up the anti-Barack Obama rhetoric over his ties to the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, comparing the Chicago pastor to white supremacist David Duke.

Niall O’Dowd, a member of Hillary’s finance committee, gave an interview to RTE Radio in Ireland saying it’s “legitimate” to raise questions about Obama’s relationship with Rev. Wright, whose sermons have included anti-American declarations and suggestions of conspiracies against African-Americans.

“It’s interesting that Barack Obama sat in the pews while all this was going on, and never once in any of his books or anything else” did he denounce Wright, O’Dowd said, adding: “He worshipped the man.”

In the interview, which was reported by the Web site TPM Election Central, O’Dowd also said:

“I think the issue that the Clinton campaign has seized on is that Barack Obama never once raised his voice to his pastor and said, ‘I think your language is quite extreme here, and I think your language is probably wrong.’

“Because let’s turn this around. If this was David Duke and he was preaching … and Hillary Clinton was in the pew, there would be outrage about this.

“And there can’t be this double standard. Barack Obama has used race where it suited him, but when it doesn’t suit him he backs away from it.”

comparing the Chicago pastor to white supremacist David Duke.

That is a fair comparison. Do you you think this experience may turn Hillary into a convert? They used to say that "a conservative is a liberal who has been mugged."

Here's a much more apt comparison using David Duke. Way back in the early days of primary jumping, Democrats in Louisiana crossed over in large numbers to vote to nominate David Duke as a Republican candidate.

Now, vast numbers of Republicans cross over to vote to nominate Obama as a Democrat candidate.

No wonder David Duke is on their mind!

1st PING for the new list!

ATTN ALL: I have just started a new ping list tonight (3/27) for Obama/Wright Issues. If you would like to be included in this list, please reply to this post, or send me a Freepmail.

This will most likely be a high-volume list, but hopefully it will be VERY short-lived (as hopefully Obama will be out on his ear very soon!).

McCain’s campaign ads are just writing themselves.

He wins either way. If Hillary is nominated, he can point out that he really did fly into sniper fire and if Obama wins, he can thump him on his pastor disaster.

But, as you say......... he may not have the guts.

Oh yes, David Duke, an object of hate we have in common with the lefties. Aren't we, ahem "progressive" in this regard. Let's join hands with Code Pink harridans and sing Kumbaya, shall we? In the meantime, let's hear some quotes from the man himself, like where he preaches "God Damn America!", and things comparable to the Holy Reverend Wright's theology.

I'll be the last person to defend the likes fof David Duke, but using a caricature of a man, a caricature drawn entirely by the Left, just don't cut it with this cat!

Wow. She's going for broke. A large portion of the Black community will never forgive her for that comparison. It's a perfectly fair comparison--one that I've been making for a while. But by making it, she's sundering the ties between the mainstream dems and the black radicals. It's not clear to me where she intends to get the votes to replace them. Let's see if the aide gets fired.

Hillary would have great ammunition using his book against him. I wonder why she hasn’t? I would think she or someone close to her would be reading the book to see if there would be anything to use against him.

reasonable comparison....Wright may even be worse than Duke.

Duke was more of a White Separatist and does not hate everything about the US or Western culture.

Poor younger Barack - he was so mixed up about his own identity. There must be a ton of biracial kids out there; I hope these days they aren’t all as messed up about “what” [notice I did not say “who”] they are. Let’s all go back to the content of people’s characters and try to forget what “tribe” they need to belong to.

As for Obama, I do not think he has YET come to terms with being black and white. He is not fit for the presidency.

I agree. Im tired of the excuse, “I was a young and confused black man, so please don’t take what I said literally.” Of course that’s disregarding his association with Wright and other radical thinkers. Can you imagine if McCain made similar statements during his youth? He would have been forced out of this election, if not the U.S. Senate.

Yep. The Grifter's only hope is to prove that BO is unelectable and to turn off enough moderate 'rats to him to get bigger vote totals in the primaries to make the "popular" vote claim. We are in for some serious entertainment over the next couple months...
