The torture murders in New Jersey last year, and these are just the cases that get national attention.

WHAT IS THE ANSWER? To people like Nutter, Rendell, Fenty et al it is MORE STRINGENT VICTIM DISARMAMENT LAWS.

As these attacks increase the likelihood of young black sociopathic thugs getting killed with their entire lives of crime and violence ahead of them is so disturbing to these politicians that they have to bray stridently for stricter gun control.

After all who is gun control going to affect? The law abiding potential victims, and we can't have victims fighting back for any number of reasons. One, the politicians' beloved "youths" might get killed. Two if citizens can protect themselves from the predations of one set of criminals, then they might get the idea that they don't need so much government. Can't have that.

I'm guessing that these four will see an absolute maximum of no more than seven years each behind bars for this act.

Obama gave his speech in this very city 10 days ago, followed it up with a criticism of his grandmother’s implicit “inbred” racism, as a “typical white person,” for crossing the street when she’d see a group of black men. Although these boys were truant on this day, I would think there had been enough discussion that they would have been exposed to that it was at least in the back of their minds. I think there is a good likelihood that this assault was a result of that. It’s anomalous, as it occured in a low-crime, middle of the afternoon scene and no real devastating blows were struck. He died because of the fear produced by an assault, we’ll never know whether the racial angle played a role in his mind. It’s hard to discount the racial angle of choice of victim in their minds, although it looks like it was a “lark” and not intended to kill him.

And if you heard the clips of the right Rev Wrong on Rush's show, he had a line in in his rant about the American government put crack on the streets then pass a three-strikes law and wonder why the blacks are angry.

Wright was essentially saying that the drug problem in America's city are the fault of America, not the lost, self-indulgent, self-righteous, deranged little hate mongers who have taken over the cities.

It is disgusting, but not surprising, that Nutter would turn a blind eye to the root cause of the hundreds of mainly drug-related homicides in his city every year. The root cause is the culture of racism in the urban black community, a racism that blames the situation of American blacks on whites, on the system, on “da man,” and on anyone else but their own lack of independence and aspiration.

Throughout the entire campaign, I didn't see a total of ten seconds of local news time spent on the Republican running in the mayoral race. Philadelphians want change, continue to vote Democrat, then wonder why nothing changes. Nutter ain't a nutter, just a typical Democrat.

How much does Philly depend on tourism for income? This act alone might just convince many people not to visit. Sure makes me afraid to go there on my own. Maybe I would go with a group but I would never get on that subway now.

I was in Phil. for a convention in January. I stayed at that Marriott where the dead guy worked. I never go to Starbucks, in part because the line was almost always out the door. I was glad I walked down to Independence Hall, which I had not visited since 1983. I fear I will never see it again as visiting Philadelphia is even less appealing now. How sad to think that Franklin, Adams, et al would weep if they saw the city today.

I almost tried taking the SEPTA just to see what it was like, even though the sights were within walking distance for me. I thought on future visits I would be able to see more if I was comfortable with the subway. Now I know it is not safe. I won’t be spending any tourist dollars there any time soon.
