Noonan: For MSM, To Know Hillary Is Not to Love Her
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 03/28/2008 5:17:18 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

People are figuring Hillary Clinton out. And that's a problem. At least, it is if you're Hillary Clinton. That's a theme of Pegggy Noonan's Wall Street Journal column of today, Getting Mrs. Clinton. Along the way, the indispensable Ms. Noonan disperses numerous valuable insights into Hillary's persona. From our NewsBusters perspective, of particular interest were these paragraphs on the way the MSM has come to view her, and vice versa [emphasis added]:

Many in the press get it, to their dismay, and it makes them uncomfortable, for it sours life to have a person whose character you feel you cannot admire play such a large daily role in your work. But I think it's fair to say of the establishment media at this point that it is well populated by people who feel such a lack of faith in Mrs. Clinton's words and ways that it amounts to an aversion. They are offended by how she and her staff operate. They try hard to be fair. They constantly have to police themselves.

Not that her staff isn't policing them too. Mrs. Clinton's people are heavy-handed in that area, letting producers and correspondents know they're watching, weighing, may have to take this higher. There's too much of this in politics, but Hillary's campaign takes it to a new level.

Thanks Mark. The lie is the most often used weapon in the criminal’s arsenal. Hillary Cupid’s quiver of arrows is never depleted. Where has Peggy Snoozin been all these years?

I went to wsj and read Noonan’s entire commentary. Very effective. Now, any first year med student can dissect a rat, and an old hand like Peggy can do it with her eyes shut. Clinton is a very easy assignment.
Still, it was fun to read. :)

Where has Peggy Snoozin been all these years?

She has been aging gracefully. One of those rare cases of aging TOO gracefully. I prefer it to Morgan and Coulter's overripeness, but Noonan does irritate me with her affected, Buckleyan elusiveness. I like writers who come to the point at least once every paragraph.

And who loathe Clintons 1000x more than they do Bushes. Peggy often suggests a moral equivalence in her disaffection for politicians, and her entire repertoire usually extends only from contented nod of approval to tsk-tsk-tsk.

I'd really like to see her "push off" like Ulysses, just once more, kick off the lap robe and shove the rocker aside, jump on that porch rail and holler Irish to Heaven.

Note to Peggy: "Do not go gentle..." Just sayin', hon.

The media knew this about her years ago and could have exposed her before she became Senator, twice. So why are the reporters so brave now?

Bonus Coverage: Mika’s Sub a Switch from Collins to Krauthammer

Over at Morning Joe, Savannah Guthrie is sitting in today for Mika Brzezinski. During the portion of the show in which the panelists share their top headlines of the morning, Mika almost invariably focuses on lib-friendly items. Yesterday, for example, Brzezinski enthused over a Gail Collins column. When it came Guthrie’s turn this morning, she chose a column by . . . Charles Krauthammer, writing in the Washington Post. Not to accuse Savannah, a magna cum laude grad of Georgetown law school, of a rightward tilt, but it was a refreshing little change of pace.

GI Joe wrote in a news blog: “Actually Mrs. Clinton was too modest. I was there and saw it all. When Mrs. Clinton got off the plane the tarmac came under mortar and machine gun fire. I was blown off my tank and exposed to enemy fire. Mrs. Clinton without regard to her own safety dragged me to safety, jumped on the tank and opened fire, killing 50 of the enemy.” Soon a suicide bomber appeared, but Mrs. Clinton stopped the guards from opening fire. “She talked to the man in his own language and got him [to] surrender. She found that he had suffered terribly as a result of policies of George Bush. She defused the bomb vest herself.” Then she turned to his wounds. “She stopped my bleeding and saved my life. Chelsea donated the blood.”
......................A lively tale and just as true as Mrs. Clinton’s version. Poor M/M Clinton, the MSM have only now found out what grifters and liars they are???? It has always been so and its fun to now see the news media turn in their tracks(revealing the Clintons) to support Obama.

A gem from Peggy's column:
What struck me as the best commentary on the Bosnia story came from a poster called GI Joe who wrote in to a news blog: "Actually Mrs. Clinton was too modest. I was there and saw it all. When Mrs. Clinton got off the plane the tarmac came under mortar and machine gun fire. I was blown off my tank and exposed to enemy fire. Mrs. Clinton without regard to her own safety dragged me to safety, jumped on the tank and opened fire, killing 50 of the enemy." Soon a suicide bomber appeared, but Mrs. Clinton stopped the guards from opening fire. "She talked to the man in his own language and got him [to] surrender. She found that he had suffered terribly as a result of policies of George Bush. She defused the bomb vest herself." Then she turned to his wounds. "She stopped my bleeding and saved my life. Chelsea donated the blood."
I don't know who "GI Joe" is, but hats off to him!

The media knew this about her years ago and could have exposed her before she became Senator, twice. So why are the reporters so brave now?

Because they want Barry, since he's left of Senator Clinton, to be the next POTUS.

IMHO, if Clinton's adversary were to the right of her, the LSM would be 100% Hillary boosters.

Plus, the LSM is learning the hard way that the pajamas media really is a power to be reckoned with. It started with Rathergate and has continued, becoming more powerful over time.

OK so they FINALLY figured the Clintons out.

When are they going to figure Obama out?

Good question: I actually think there is a small but not non-existent possibility that will happen before election day.

Unlike the news media, I have a long memory. These are the same media people who were defending the Clintons when they were in the White House. These Democratic media folks are the worst and most damaging form of hypocrites.

This is bullshit. People are not “figuring out” Hillary and Bill just now, they’ve known about them all along. The difference is now, they have hitched their cart to another horse and are forced to admit to what the rest of us have known all along.
Operation Chaos is also helping to do massive damage to the MSMedia as they are having to do a defacto admission of their willful ignorance toward the Clintons all these long years.

No, no, no, no, no.

The MSM is not “figuring Hillary Clinton out.” It’s only that Obama has usurped her (and Bill) and is now the Chosen One among the drive-bys. Hillary stands in his way and the MSM will do whatever it takes to clear his path.

Good lord. It’s no wonder the Republicans lose all the time. They are just clueless.

So why are the reporters so brave now?

Because they have the Magic Negro, who gives them all of the Clinton's liberalism with none of the guilt of associating with his skirt-chasing sleaze and her dirty tricks. They smell a winner in B. Hussein Obama, and have thus hitched onto him for the ride.

However, the MSM better duck if she manages to snake past him into the WH. As the late Barbara Olson said, there will be "hell to pay".

Mika can be continuously annoying, but I thought Joe was too nasty to her yesterday. I actually felt sorry for her.

The funny thing is - if it werent for Osama Obama doing so well, the MSM would have NEVER covered the Tuzla story like they are now. It would have been poo-pooed as more attacks from the right - hate speech, etc.

It's amazing that this is going on at all but it goes to show you that the media are as duplicitious as the Xlinton's.
