Dean Says Attacks Getting Too Personal

Dean Says Attacks Getting Too Personal Mar 28 09:36 AM US/Eastern By NEDRA PICKLER Associated Press Writer WASHINGTON (AP) - Democratic Party chief Howard Dean says Barack Obama, Hillary Rodham Clinton and their supporters should beware of tearing each other down, demoralizing the base and damaging the party's chances of winning the White House in November.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Dean also said he hopes the Democratic nominee will be determined shortly after the voting ends in early June and that he will encourage the superdelegates who will play a role to make up their minds before the August convention in Denver.

Dean said the charges and countercharges between Clinton and Obama have gotten too personal at times. He declined to say how they have crossed the line, but he said he's made it clear privately when it has happened.

"You do not want to demoralize the base of the Democratic Party by having the Democrats attack each other," he said Thursday during the interview in his office at Democratic National Committee headquarters. "Let the media and the Republicans and the talking heads on cable television attack and carry on, fulminate at the mouth. The supporters should keep their mouths shut about this stuff on both sides because that is harmful to the potential victory of a Democrat."

Superdelegates—the nearly 800 party and elected officials who can support whomever they choose at the convention, regardless of what happens in the primaries—should make up their minds before August to avoid a fight at the convention, Dean said.

Does he mean we shouldn’t get too personal when we attack the people who are on the same side as we are?

In the war on terror, for example? We shouldn’t get too personal attacking the president as that might demoralize our soldiers and embolden the enemy.

Is that what he’s saying?

Florida and Michigan Democrats brazenly violated party rules by holding primaries ahead of schedule and lost their delegates to the convention as punishment. Both states are now demanding that they not be shut out of the decision-making process because of it.

Sure, but it's fine to demoralize AMERICANS by having vicious Demagogues attacking and undermining the President and VP in the most depraved manner in time of war...... so Dean is more interested in upholding the Demagogic Party than in protecting AMERICA in time of war, that's what we can take away from this!

A LOT of Democrats, especially in the Blogosphere, are in a complete panic over this situation.

They expected to be in FULL hate-Republican mode by now, not cutting each others throats. They are watching thier 2008 hopes slide away in a toilet of racism and avarice, while thier “Issues” (Whatever the hell that happens to be), are no longer getting any traction in the media.

Who cares about saving the Colorado Sniveling Snot Rat, when thier is a bruising fight to cover?

While the two camps fight it out, no one is sending money in to the issue groups. Those DC Mansions aren’t cheap, you know..

Marching orders, sheeple.

Democratic political organization "is as good or better as the Republicans,' and we haven't been able to say that for about 30 years.

Still laughing at this one. It may be the truth, but what doesn that say about the last 30 years?

and end up with some more right-wing extremists on the Supreme Court,"

Yeah. We wouldn't want any more Judges that actually follow the Constitution

He's been consulting with party stalwarts about how to wrap up the nomination quickly after the voting ends in June, including former Vice President Al Gore, former presidential candidate John Edwards, former Sen. George Mitchell, former President Carter, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, civil rights activist Jesse Jackson and former New York Gov. Mario Cuomo.

Well, there. That aught to straighten things out in a hurry. What a stalwart group - and with Dean at the helm of the DNC. (I wouldn't ask their advice on a choice of toilet paper. For one thing, it would take them months to come to a decision)

It’s possible the Clintons have already written off ‘08 and are now looking ahead to ‘12, which means weakening Obama as much as possible, starting with PA and going forward into the general election with whatever dirty tricks they have up their dirty sleeves to undermine that dirty anti-American and his neverproud wife. (Not that they care one way or another about Obama’s anti-Americanism. The Clintons just want power.)

...She is completely unwilling to accept the cruel truth that she has been rejected by her own party, betrayed by her own family.

She was first lady, for cryin' out loud! She is the queen of this party!

No one she trusts has the courage to tell her she's done, much less force her into the car to take her home.

So on we march, scandal after scandal, contest after contest, hoping with each one that she finally accepts what everyone else began realizing long ago.

The curiosity of this spectacle has led some to openly speculate she's staying in the race only to damage Obama so badly that he can't win in November, thus leaving the Democratic ticket open for her to run again in 2012.

And the certainty with which she recalled all that sniper fire raining down on her as she landed in Bosnia 12 years ago convinced others that she's nearly gone out of her mind.

"She has become disassociated from reality," said one top Democrat. "And now she's going all the way to the convention, and she's not going to pull the plug on this thing."

Wow....nail/head! Nice analogy.....and very much the typical hypocricy we see from that side all the time.

I was also amused to see the demo pundits on Hannity and Colmes bemoaning the fact that Obama was getting all the positive press and Hillary was getting all the bad press and how that was affecting the outcome of the race. Hmmmmmmm.....I thought there was never any bias in the media.

The attacks HAVE been personal ever since the witch realized she was losing and...clintin is the one responsible as always for trying to keep the people divided. Whether you like or hate Obama he has won this nomination fair and square. If hillllreee wins it now it will be a travesty and will forever be known as cheating. She does NOT deserve anything but to be shown the “Exit.”
