The police force is committed to make its presence felt when Fiji observes Earth Hour from 8-9pm tonight.
Corporate Communications Officer Ema Mua says the force wants to ensure that no one takes advantage of the Earth Hour Initiative to break the law.
Mua says the National Operations Command Centre has designated senior officers to look into areas especially towns where criminal activities are likely to occur.
A big number will be patrolling on foot and those who will be on motor vehicle.
We also have the National Operations Command Centre on high alert for that one hour and all divisions will be on standby for that hour as well.
We are focusing more on where crimes are mostly and densely occurs like Raiwaqa, Raiwai and even in the mid-city itself and in this case we will be increase our presence in all the places that we need to be, she added.
Mua has warned individuals thinking of breaking the law tonight to think twice.

Manila cops on alert for Earth Hour - report

Google uses more energy in a minute than I do in a day.
What I love is ‘Earth Hour’ in countries that have regular brownouts or lack of service. Unreliable power supplies are the worst things to stress with these stupid stunts.
Earth Hour to Police: 'Gentlemen, start your engines.'
Liberalism: a mental deficiency caused by a failed ideology.
How soon will it be
When the police are out in force
To make sure all of the subjects
observe these kinds of times?
Did you hear that Denver is planning to participate tonight? I’m tempted to put out the Christmas lights again. LOL!
It sounds like a good time to test all those lights that aren’t used regularly. Make sure all the bulbs in the attic and basement, the closet lights, etc are working.
If you have one, fire up the generator and make sure it works as well.
Wonder how many carbon credits they paid to print that glossy “LIGHTS OUT!” banner? That’s surely not a carbon-neutral, organic way to display something.
I’ll have my servers, laptop and 1 kW PSU-powered gaming system up in all of its glory.
Don’t these putz’s realize that turning off lights isn’t going to fix this farce called Global Warming? The electric company is going to continue to generate power. So what if they don’t use it?
Me personally, I can’t wait for the sun cycle to kick back into high gear... I get terrible HF propagation without it!
Heh! I’ll be firing up both TVs, both Xboxes, both Gamecubes, the crock pot, the oven, the driveway light, the surround sound, and turning my fans up high.
I’ve given it some serious thought and figured out where I can make my strongest personal statement on this Earth Hour nonsence.
The single largest energy hog that I own is my welding rig. I think that I’ll crank it up and weld in the motor mounts on my hot rod. I’m trading out the original 6-cylinder engine for a dual-intake stroked 350...;’}
