King Carl Gustaf XVI has announced that the lights will be turned off for an hour at royal castles on Saturday.
The King has announced the royal intention to respect Earth Hour, a campaign by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to highlight energy use and climate change.
Ulriksdal Castle and the King's home Drottningholm Castle will join Stockholm Castle in the centre of the city in cutting the lights at 8pm on Saturday.
The King is honorary chair of the WWF in Sweden.
WWF's Earth Hour campaign is expected to be respected by a large number of households across the globe. In Sweden however the campaign has gone largely unnoticed and the King will be one of few that will meet the challenge.
The WWF in Sweden reports that it has not prioritized the campaign and that no county councils have signed up to the cause. Stockholm City Council has explicitly stated that it wants nothing to do with the campaign, according to news agency TT.
In neighbouring Denmark however the "Turn out the lights Denmark" campaign is being enthusiastically lead by WWF Denmark and is expected to be widely respected.
Queen Margrethe, the Swedish king's cousin, will be switching off the lights at her castle at the appointed hour, 8pm. 17 county councils will do the same as well as a raft of companies and many private households.
Cities across the world; from Adelaide to Bangkok and San Francisco to Ottowa will turn the off their lights. A large campaign has also been undertaken across the USA.
Imagine how much energy they’d conserve if Sweden got rid of its outdated and completely useless monarchy.
try this one, blahblahbah is in rare form tonight

From the quote above, it sounds as if San Francisco is no longer part of the USA? I can see how one could become confused in that regard. Anyway, I think this energy-saving plan is great and that it is more than generous of them to give the precise time, date and locations to would-be burglars. Enviro-Morons, they'll leave a light off for ya.
I've turned out the lights when I am not using them for the past 25 years now. Where's my medal?
me too.

To compensate I plan to do lots of stuff that hour like laundry etc. :)

Now if we could get him to respect God.
The king of darkness?
No mention of it in South Korea from what I have seen.
I am going to light two tires on fire in recognition.
Cheers.

After defeating Hulk Hogan in a steel cage match.”
A LIGHTS OUT steel cage match.
These flaky loser king should get to the nearest doctor immediately, because his head is up his a$$.

Of course up here in the Dhimmi, Socialist Peoples Republic of Vermont (to make my point, Burlington, Vermont is one of only THREE cities in the country to carry Al Jazeera English Broadcast) it has not been easy to recruit like-minded people who consider the entire GloBull issue a major hoax.
However, with the offer of free steaks and adult beverages, I was able to find a few who in turn, have taken the pledge to use as much carbon as possible in return for coming to my party.
Dinner (even though we have snow on the ground and the temp will be hovering close to freezing) will be grain-fed beef cooked over a charcoal fire (none of that clean LPG barbecue gas), served with vegetables shipped in from as far away as possible.
Heres another suggestion I picked up off the net and will include as many as I can during this time frame:
Possible items you may want to switch ON:
-all household lights
-air conditioner
-heater
-washer
-dryer
-dishwasher
-stove/oven
-put on ovens self-cleaning cycle
-microwave
-any/all kitchen appliances -television
-dvd player
-game system
-stereo
-wood/gas burning stove/fireplace
-space heaters
-outdoor lights
And dont forget computers, which you may use to track the Earth Hour hoc-us pocus.

As an aside, while some in the media are claiming MILLIONS will participate, the official web site lists ONLY 284773 people as having signed up for Earth Hour 2008.
The following cities have also pledged to participate in this charade:
Aalborg » Aarhus » Adelaide » Atlanta » Bangkok » Bogota » Brisbane » Canberra » Chicago » Christchurch » Copenhagen » Darwin » Dublin » Hobart » Manila » Melbourne » Montreal » Odense » Ottawa » Perth » Phoenix » San Francisco » Santa Cruz » Suva and Lautoka » Sydney » Tel Aviv » Toronto » Vancouver
I wish I could find a bulb like this which sold on Ebay, it would make things so much easier to. Its a 240v 5000 W Bulb which apparently is/was made by Phllips in Holland, but have not been able to find another.

As Rush usually remarks, this is nothing more than typical, Far-Left, Moonbat, Symbolism over Substance.
And yes while this may all seem foolish (my wanting to spend extra $$$ in consuming unneeded energy, I'm following the liberal mindset in that it will "make me feel good;" and pointing out the absurdity by being absurd.
