Crusading dad John Crowley may run for the U.S. Senate

Crusading dad John Crowley may run for U.S. Senate by Robert Schwaneberg/ The Star-Ledger Friday March 28, 2008, 1:21 PM A Princeton man who started his own biotech firm to find a cure for a rare, often-fatal genetic disease that afflicts two of his children is thinking of seeking the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate. John Crowley, the 40-year-old president of Amicus Therapeutics of Cranbury, is "giving strong consideration" to joining the race, according to his friend, adviser and fellow Republican, Bill Spadea. He said he was authorized to speak for Crowley, who is out of the country vacationing with his wife, Aileen. "John will be weighing his significant obligations to his family, to the shareholders and employees of Amicus and to the U.S. military as he and Aileen make this important decision together,'' Spadea said. Those military obligations are to the U.S. Naval Reserve, in which Crowley is an intelligence officer. Last year he completed a six-month tour of duty at the Center for Navy Intelligence in Virginia, an assignment for which he volunteered. His life story is literally destined for Hollywood. A book has already been written about how, after his children Megan and Patrick were diagnosed in 1998 with Pompe disease, he raised more than $100 million in investment capital for a series of biotech companies researching a cure. Actor Harrison Ford optioned the screen rights. Novazayme Pharmaceuticals, the start-up biotech he founded in 2000 with an Oklahoma physician, was bought by a larger company, Genzyme, which developed a treatment for Pompe disease.

I know this man personally. And wanted to introduce him to my fellow freepers. I will admit I am biased, but I believe no finer example of American Character, Patriotism, and True Conservatism exists on the political scene today. And if he decides to run I think we have a good shot at winning a senate seat from a blue state. But more importantly he will bring Honor to the office...which we sorely need in New Jersey.

Sounds like a good man. I can't vote in NJ, but I can contribute to his campaign. Let us know when he starts his campaign so we can help.

I hate to lose such a good man, who is currently contributing to the military, to the private sector, and to society as a whole.

He sounds way too good for the US Senate.

This is your first post since July 07, I guess you must feel strongly about this guy.

There was a very similar if not exact post like yours yesterday, but it seems to have disappeared.

I do feel strongly about John. His father was a Police Officer who died in the line of duty when John was seven yrs old. Through pluck, luck and hard work....plus a burning desire to save the life of his children, he turned the corporate world upside down to find a cure for that horrible disease....and he always says that only in America could he have done this.......check out youtube for his interviews.
And yes, I posted this yesterday but forgot to attach a link to the article......getting old !
