Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island

President George W. Bush shakes hands with troops following his event in Freehold, New Jersey Friday, March 28, 2008, at McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey.

Mrs. Laura Bush and members of her Midland High School class of 1964 welcome President George W. Bush back to the White House Friday afternoon, March 28, 2008, following his trip to Freehold, N.J. ((A sure sign of good, down home, decent folks .... NOT the nasty portrayals made of them by some in the press and our enemies from within.. they're still close to their high school friends from over 40 years ago!))

QUOTE(s) OF THE DAY
President's Radio Address ~ March 29, 2008
On Wednesday I visited a printing company in Virginia that has decided to use these incentives to purchase new software. As more businesses begin taking advantage of these incentives, investment will pick up and so will job creation. And together with the individual tax rebates, these incentives will help give our economy a shot in the arm.

Hello!
You beat me by 3 seconds!
Let me slap yo hand...co-winner!
Yeah, but there’s a 10 second rule.
HIgh Five!
Good afternoon! Thanks for the ping
Hey Kas!
“you would have received a high-five picture ;-) to help celebrate!”
LOL!!
Yah gots to respect dah rules.
And just how cool is it to have your HS reunion at the WHITE HOUSE.. geeze.. That is one you wouldn’t want to miss even if you were broke/out of job, too fat or just divorced! (excuses to miss many reunions across the country ..)
We have a few political types in our class but no barn burners like our POTUS - 43!
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.. Sunny here but COLD still & we still have a lot of snow in the yard & huge piles..
Very cool to graduate in ‘64, but even better in ‘60. Looking forward to more pics of our great president and his family.

My brother was a 65 hs grad...me...73 -okay flame away! ;-)
Yah...well, McGiever (sp?) and Loni Anderson graduated from MY high school, though!
Thank you, and thanks for posting the Dose!
i was 63 grad
“My brother was a 65 hs grad...me...73 -okay flame away! ;-)”
Hey, no problem! My husband graduated HS in 65, me in 78!
President Bush will take some time out from dealing with Iraq and the economy this weekend to test his throwing arm.
Bush is set to christen the Washington Nationals' new baseball park tomorrow (Sunday evening) by throwing out the first ball. Bush is to make his delivery from the pitcher's mound to Nationals manager Manny Acta.
President John Kennedy did the honors on April 9th, 1962, when the old D.C. Stadium debuted as the home field for the Washington Senators.
The Senators moved to Texas following the 1971 season, where the team became the Rangers. Before he became governor, a politically connected investor named George W. Bush was the managing partner of the Rangers.
~~~
Who can ever forget his pitch, on October 30, 2001, in front of a wounded New York City and an anxious nation, in the 3rd game of the World Series at Yankee Stadium .....
*snip*
He stood on the pitcher's mound and scanned the upper reaches of a sellout crowd of more than 57,000, then gave a thumbs-up sign. With flashbulbs popping and dozens of flags waving, Bush lingered on the mound for a moment, seeming to relish the moment.
Then, with a quick windup, he threw the ball just off the center of the plate -- a strike -- to Yankees backup catcher Todd Greene, and walked off the mound to chants of "U-S-A, U-S-A."
"He threw a strike, too," Yankees third baseman Scott Brosius said. "He had a good arm."
The same applies to Cheney's as well they often mention friends that are still close from their teenage days in Wyoming.
It is interesting how the MSM media and political opponents one wonders where the the line is between the 2 as it often seems blurred attack these men and make comments questioning their characters etc when in fact these are principled moral men which I why I suspect is real reason they are attacked.
They are not understood how at times they put their own feelings and certainly personal popularity to oneside to say and do that which they consider is best for their country and fellow man.
I was born in 60 LOL
Jenna Bush to speak at father's childhood home
Jenna Bush is scheduled to speak in her father's hometown of Midland next month about her work with children.
Her appearance will be part of an April 16 fundraiser for the George W. Bush Childhood Home. Organizers said she'll talk of her passion for helping children and her experience with the United Nations Children's Fund.
The University of Texas graduate taught at an inner-city school in Washington before traveling to Latin America to work with UNICEF, which is an international children's advocacy group. Part of her job was to meet with children and teens who were living with abusive families, drugs and often HIV or AIDS.
In the fall, her book "Ana's Story: A Journey of Hope" was released. It tells the story of 17-year-old Ana who survived abuse and is living as a single mother with HIV.
Event chairman Rick Davis said the purpose of the event is to keep President Bush's childhood home running and open to the public. The home, which received 7,000 visitors in its first 18 months of operation, was occupied by the Bush family between 1951 and 1955 and has been restored to the condition it was in at that time.
Hi Kas .... happy weekend ... you’re welcome.
Now that’s a dream reunion, and I’m struck
by the obvious knowing smiles of those old
high school buddies and what it says about
how special the Bushes are. It’s really
something. They’re incredibly real folks.
Where are you, Deb? LOL ... tell us more..;)
Thanks so much for this fabulous dose enabling us to relive the moments when W threw a perfect strike in Yankee stadium in Oct 2001.
How true ... it’s all junk .. no
semblance of truth about these
two great and decent men. Hope
you’re FINALLY relaxing this
weekend ................... !!!
;)
My pleasure ........ ;)
That’s pretty funny!
None of the ladies in the first row of Laura's class are fat...they all look great! Wonder if they are the friends she goes hiking with every year.
As far as I know, no one in my class is obscenely rich or famous. Maybe notorious...here is the story: We had an identical set of twins in our class and they were very popular and handsome. All of us gals probably had a crush on one of them during our years together in school. One was quiet and serious, the other was fun-loving and adventuresome. According to my classmates at the one and only reunion I attended, the fun loving one is a hit man for the mob!!Probably just a rumor but some of my classmates believe it.
I also have a brother who's a '65 grad. I'm a '71, so I'm just a little bit older than you. ;o)
I've never been to any of my high school reunions. We were always living at least 1200 miles away, and they always seemed to have them over Thanksgiving weekends, when we didn't have time to travel there, because our kids were in school. My cousin, Barbara, used to attend, and send me the group picture, or any booklet they put together, but she died in 1995, and I had no one else who attended, from whom to get that info.
My hubby, SirKit, has no interest in his high school reunions. His comment was, "I didn't like those folks when we were in high school, why should I spend the time and money to go seem them now?" LOL! He still has several good friends from high school, and has kept in touch with them, and seen them a few times over the years. He's looking forward to moving back down to MS so we can see them more often.
I haven't really stayed in touch with any of my high school friends, who were not cousins. I have a reunion with my younger sister and our girl cousins, who are close to our ages, each year, and those are the only ones with whom I've really kept in touch. When we move back, I may re-establish contact with some of the other folks I knew from high school, who knows?
Hey...niiiiice high five!
Top THAT ;-)
Can’t top that !
God bless and protect
our brave troops ..in
harm’s way fighting
for US right at this
moment.
Excellent work, as always, Star. I loved the picture of Laura and the highschool reunion.
STARWISE: WOW thank you for the AWESOME photos and links!!
I just got home from MULTIPLE commitments and have not had the chance to collect my thoughts for installment #2 of my Full Report — I promise to have it done for tomorrow night!
ADVANCE PREVIEW:
After speaking for about 25 minutes, the President asked for questions. The first two people who raised their hands both indicated that they didn’t have a question but just wanted to assure the President that they still supported him 100%. They also thanked him for leading courageously without regard to the polls.
The President humbly thanked them for their kind comments and then in his best West Texas twang (with a mischievous glint in his eyes)proceeded to tell the group that he didn’t want this to turn into a therapy session. Contrary to what we might think, the presidency has been a joyous experience for him thanks to his faith, his wife, and the opportunity he has every day to meet, lead and work with the BEST that America has to offer. For these reasons, he remains the same “sunny, optimistic” guy he’s always been. In fact, he was REALLY looking forward to this weekend and the chance to enjoy over 300 friends from his hometown of Midland, TX. He couldn’t wait to watch the reaction of his “good ole boys” as they walked through the White House for the first time. [As noted by STARWISE, the President and First Lady are hosting the 1964 graduates of Midland’s THREE high schools (at the time), including as the President explained, the segrated high school.]
The President is also looking forward to throwing out the first pitch at the National’s new ballpark Sunday evening . . . He wishes he could have practiced more — he’s just not as young as he’d like to think he is (of course, we’re all thinking that he’s in MUCH better shape than all the 20-somethings in the crowd)! [I was going to ask him if he was wearing his bicycle shorts under his suit and then thought better of it; HOWEVER, I just know he would have had a perfectly witty and WICKED retort — he was in rare form on Thursday!!! . . . Oh to have had been able to use our video camera!]
If you haven’t already done so, I HIGHLY recommend that you watch the videoclip provided at the following link: [The videoclip is entitled: “Video of Bush in the Crowd”]
Awesome! Thanks for that great report!
This is the only time that I wish I had graduated from a
Midland school. LOL! They are our arch-rivals in football.
(he would know something about that!)
I love these installments ;-) Thank you!
So great, Deb! Loved his humility and optimism
when he spoke. He is truly the indefatigable
“man in the arena,” completely aware of his
priorities. You are SO lucky, girl!
I love the videos, w of which I had not seen
before. They are MUST SEEs. And I sniffed ...
..... a lot. Will be SO miserable for us when
they leave. There’s not a one of the current 3
I can even bear think of in that Oval Office.
I just have a strange feeling that something else
might happen to change the status quo.
God forever bless and protect Pres. & Laura Bush
and their family.
My pleasure, kit. Aren’t those smiling
faces .. on those who know him .. just great?
One of my all too rare visits to my favorite thread!
Well, bad news for me!
My father died this past Easter Monday (March 24th).
He'll be buried in a veterans' cemetary.
Please pray for my family. thanks.
I never did get to see that video of the President dancing.
I think I'm getting the "Bugs" worked out of my PC.
Hey, who's here?
earlier in the thread I read about some HS graduations.
Well, I'm a Bicencennial graduate! I graduated from HS back in 1976!
I alway get here after everyone else has gone!
Just about to turn my computer off and go to bed, when I saw your post. I surely know of your pain as my Mom died on Feb 24th. We had to wait to bury her above my Dad at the Veteran's cemetery on March 19th. Why so much time in between??? Too many heros are leaving us...so sad. They are so busy, they can't keep up. So, so sad.
May God comfort you and your family and help you through this yucky time.
My motto all through this has been...I know this happens to everyone...it's life.....but it still sucks!
I think that about sums it up, huh?
off to bed - big hugs!
