John McCain Leads the Gutless Old Party

Increasingly, it seems that the Republican Party would rather quit or simply embrace liberalism than fight for the conservatism in which they used to believe. It doesn't seem to matter how little they have left to lose. They'll find some reason or other to keep going along in the same leftward direction as the Democrats, just a tiny bit more slowly.

They would apparently rather be the Vichy Republicans, named for the puppet government of France that Nazi Germany appointed in the city of Vichy during its World War II occupation. Just as some Frenchmen sold out their country and brethren for the trappings of entirely phony “power” – as if they could really do anything of which the Nazis disapproved – so too are many Republicans more than willing to adopt and implement the policies of their erstwhile “enemy” just so they can pretend they have more influence than they really do. As if they could really pass anything of which the Democrats disapproved.

Comparing today’s Republicans to WWII Nazi’s. Nice.

Yep, true. That is the GOP of today. Too scared to beat them, so they joined them.

Actually, they’re being compared to the Vichy French. The libs are being compared to the Nazis.

Actually I think in this author’s metaphor, the Dems are the NAZIs and the Republicans are the NAZI collaborators.

I think the point is that we do not have a true conservative Republican candidate and most Republicans plan to vote for this guy who is clearly NOT the best man for the job.

You get a Hillary or Obama as president and you’ll regret the day you didn’t vote for this lamer McCain. With a Democrat Congress it can get much much worse

Republicans never learn from success, Democrats never learn from failure.

This party is way too gone to support any longer. This year we clearly have two choices, Democrat, or Democrat lite. But actually, the Republican candidate would probably do more damage in the long run. Besides, the Democrats will over ride any veto’s or opposition McCain would try to muster.

So forget about holding any one’s feet to the fires of Conservative Principles. That will be totally out to the question. And the Dems will simply defund the war with out any Conservative opposition that can make a difference.

McCain is as good as we can get these days. The nation has moved leftward and McCain and Obama (a super lefty) prove this. Conservative ideas and principles just don't resonate these days. The schools and media have done a good job brainwashing

Much as I don't like McCain and his backstabbing I believe he is well positioned against Obama. McCain will run as the responsible seasoned centrist who advocates a few liberal programs like combating global warming. McCain's lurching leftward the last 6 years will pay off

You should rethink that. Imagine the damage done to the Supreme Court should Obama or Shrillery get elected. And a Dem pres with a Dem congress spells disaster.
