Have any of you noticed that the precipitous decline of the GOP started with the murder of Terri? But the Republican Party hierarchy mistakenly thinks that because it at first defended Terri’s right to life and then ran into liberal-hyped polls to the contrary that its political problem is having initially defended her right to life. I think it was Fred D. Thompson who said he was “unfamiliar” with Terri’s murder. And Mitt Romney said he had no opinion on the matter. Could it be that grass-roots right-to-lifers lost interest in the GOP with this judicial murder?

I think you nailed it. If conservatives can't even trust that the GOP will act to protect the life of a single person, how can we trust that they will do anything else to protect the sanctity of life?

It should also be noted that all of the Democrats who Michael Schiavo supported in the 2006 elections lost.

I know many former Republicans who registered as independents after Jeb strung us along for the big boys. Let us not forget that Gov. Charlie is still being talked about as VP choice. Remember when he was Fl AG, he refused to investigate Terri's civil rights issues. This wasn't about religion alone. Terri's civil rights were being seriously abused. Talk about discrimation! She was discriminated against and then murdered. IF MCCAIN PICKS CRIST, I'M STAYING HOME. Independents can do that you know. Right after Terri died, the GOP lost a big chunk of their base and it was because they stopped helping her, not because they ever tried to help her.

COMPARE the 2004 elections to the 2006 elections. The GOP won in 2004 while Terri was still being protected (although not in ideal conditions) but in 2006, after Terri died (and Katrina just proved their indifference to human life), the GOP LOST elections cuz they lost long time republicans. I tell them when they call to put anti-euthanasia on the platform and maybe I'll come back. I don't even think their telemarketers know what euthanasia is, let alone anti-euthanasia.

2003 Terri given some rights like living.

2004: GOP candidates get re-elected.

2005: Terri was murdered. She had no rights except the right to privacy (so she could be hidden).

2006: GOP started losing ground. 1. Terri & Katrina 2. illegal immigration 3. WOT which to be honest is a drain on the 4. economy but this is what UBL is really trying to bring down!

This is a chronology based upon a nation's frustrations. Now we have 3 POTUS candidates who believe Terri was not worth the time of day. McCain wants my money? I don't think so.

I do support the military in the WOT. We need to git ur dun.
