QUOTE OF THE DAY
President Bush Departs for NATO Summit
South Lawn
THE PRESIDENT: Good morning. Laura and I are on our way to a very important NATO summit, and members of the United States Congress are on their way back to Washington. And they have a lot of work to do.
Congress needs to pass FISA reform. Our intelligence professionals are waiting on the Congress to give them the tools they need to monitor terrorist communications. Congress also needs to provide liability protection to companies that may have helped save lives after September the 11th, 2001.
Congress needs to pass legislation to modernize the Federal Housing Administration. Struggling homeowners are waiting on Congress to act so that the FHA can help more Americans refinance their mortgages and stay in their homes.
Congress needs to act urgently to approve the Colombian Free Trade Agreement -- a courageous ally in South America is waiting on Congress to approve an agreement that will strengthen our national security. American businesses, workers and farmers are waiting on Congress to level the playing field.
These are all vital priorities, and I ask members of both parties to get these important pieces of legislation to my desk as soon as possible.
Thank you very much.

Good evening!

Hi Pippin great to see you
Yes I had a nap earlier as I was exhausted after stock taking at work today and unfortunately napped too long hence why the dose is late
hi
Ahhhh...what a great photo of the day!
Thanks for all your hard work, Snugs! Looking forward to
all the pictures for today.
Another of my rare visits.
Wow...you’ve been busy!
Glad you got to get a nap .. thank
you SO much for doing the Dose tonight.
Great photos ... God bless and protect
Pres. and Laura Bush,’til they’re safely
home.
This is very odd. I seem to be stuck on post #1 and all the
others have disappeared, temorarily I hope!
All clear
Thank you! My second one. :)
You needed the rest. You are always here for us, and we thank you!
Hi, there. Good to see you and very sorry to hear of your
loss!
(((hugs)))
Jeez, are they in Ukraine? I can never keep up with those two! : )
I have a Ukrainian student in one of my classes; I’ll have to see how the Ukrainian press is treating the President’s visit.
Hi, Snugs. FReeRepublic is running rough today. So happy to be here.

top 10
Seems like our President is overseas a great deal these last months. I always worry, but I can see where he probably needs the emotional lift of visiting places he and his father and Reagan have had an historic effect.
We’ve come a long way these last seven years from his hopes of working closely with Putin to his visiting a country where Putin tried to poison and kill the leader of the democratic movement.
My son was watching the Washington Nationals vs. the Atlanta Braves game last night on TV, and he couldn’t stop raving about Pres. Bush’s performance, both in throwing the opening ball, and in his appearance for four innings in the press box.
One thing he kept repeating is how funny Pres. Bush is in his comments. He had the announcers in hysterics. He said that the Pres. was so laid back and his humor was very dry and off the cuff. AND INTELLIGENT.
No, darn it, he couldn’t remember a single funny comment. Someday, I hope someone writes a book about Dubya’s humor and lets us in on how he even gets big grins from foreign heads of state.
Oh, and he said that the announcers questioned our President about baseball’s big moments, and he got all the answers right.
Have to go to bet now, early appt.
Snugs, thanks for the beautiful pink toaster with Dubya and the Easter bunny.
Thank you SO much, snugs!
President Bush and Laura will be remembered as a great people. Especially after one of the three get elected.
The Democrats have long arms and have influenced the public for eight year’s against this President and it is a shame that our citizens do not know the truth.

Our local Fox News station made a big deal about how the President was booed by fans when he came out. We heard some boos, but many more cheers.
Love the colorful Ukrainian costumes. Thanks for the Dose and reposting those fantastic toasters.
Snugs, I meant 38 for you.
The cloth runner that they are giving President Bush, is that a “traditional” piece? My brother in law was stationed in Kiev for 2 years several years ago and my sister brought me one back. I have it in a drawer, never really did know what to do with it.
Snugs, thanks so much for the toaster....I love it! Thanks for all your hard work.
My mother always used to have one on our sideboard. I do not mainly because of amount of stuff I have on the sideboard you would never see it but I suppose also because at present it is not really fashion to have one.
I suspect the Kiev tradition is very similar to the British one where they are embroidered by someone in the family either as wedding presents or something that a young adult does.
I know mum tried to get me interested in what was her family tradition of embroidery even buying me a silk kit and a pinafore with a pattern on it, it did not inspire me.
his appearance for four innings in the press box.

Another fact that I never would have known but for the Dose thread! He has a fantastic, quick wit. Rush played a clip of HRC telling a joke today, and it was painful.
Thank you! I used it as a runner across the top of my computer desk for awhile, then changed it to a Christmas only thing, since it’s red. I had put it away and just came across it this past weekend again. My sister brought herself and our mom back one also.
I didn’t see any news about how well President Bush threw the ball. Did he throw it over the plate from the mound?
