The United States Border Patrol cannot seem to catch a break. Border Patrol agents have to guard both the US-Canadian Border and the nearly 2,000-mile-long US-Mexico Border, the most frequently crossed international border in the world. Traffic across the southern border is both legal and illegal, and the illegal activity is not just men and women trying to enter the US to earn a better living, albeit by breaking the law. It is also violent drug cartels, whose influence, corruption, and murders in border towns like Tijuana and Ciudad Juarez has spiked recently. THE LOS ANGELES TIMES ran an article in mid-February noting that tourism in Tijuana has decreased 90% since 2005 as drug violence has soared. Late last week the police chief of the Mexican City of Palomas showed up at a border entry point in New Mexico asking for political asylum in the US to escape the drug violence in his town, where four people recently were shot to death and his two officers had fled.

Not popular at all. My retired beer drinking husband and his pals shoot real straight. Think they can get jobs as border patrol. They will do it for free. No cost to taxpayers.
A young man I worked with in Michigan has been a BP agent for about 9 months now in New Mexico. He likes the job and has not had to fire his weapon. He said they have apprehended illegals at night and when the lights of the helicopter came on the they dropped to the ground and put their hands behind their heads. I'll take more boots on the ground right now. The chances of having to fire your weapon are slim and in the meantime they can be practicing at the range.

A BP agent that fires his weapon will end up in prison with Campean and Ramos thanks to the open border nuts.
Being on the Border Patrol, is a dangerous job and one that will not end soon.
It is good that some of our young are joining them, we need many more.
He came back to work recently to visit and drew a crowd of curious, questioning co-workers. Many of the younger ones are considering. A lot of workers look up to him (he's 6'7" :)) in many ways. He comes from a great family and is a hard-working honest kid (27). We got along GRRREAT. We worked in the same department. I was one of 2 employees at work with a Bush/Cheney bumper sticker on my vehicle. He was the other one, with one on his truck. (There was a Kerry/Edwards guy in another department...we all got along great). I have his email address.
We need more young men like your friend.
