Jane Fonda endorses Barack Obama; there goes his crossover vote
Los Angeles Times ^ | April 02, 2008 | Andrew Malcolm

Posted on 04/03/2008 1:26:19 AM PDT by tlb

Jane Fonda, the actress and ardent anti-Vietnam War advocate who visited North Vietnam during those hostilities, has endorsed Democrat Barack Obama for president.

There were no formal ceremonies for the endorsement. In fact, the Obama campaign may just be learning about the actress's approval now as word spreads like lit gunpowder via the Internet.

...a video camera was rolling as she approached the street and someone, perhaps just trying to get her to turn around for a picture, shouted out at her back, "Who are you going to vote for?"

There was a moment of silence. Then, the actress did turn around toward the cameras, paused and with a smile said simply, "Obama!" Then she got into a car and drove away.

The problem for those of a certain generation that endured the Vietnam War and the sometimes violent domestic conflict that accompanied it at home is that during Fonda's controversial wartime visit to North Vietnam, she was photographed at a Communist anti-aircraft gun battery.

As it happens, the Republican presidential candidate this time is Sen. John McCain of Arizona, who was one of those American fliers shot down over that same city by those same anti-aircraft forces, tortured and spent nearly six years in a POW cell while Fonda returned home.

We are to elect Commander in Chief, not Conservative in Chief.
While we all would love a real conservative for this post, our choices this time are either McCain or Hillobama. Pick your choice. That’s reality.

Of course , Jane Fonda, the traitor to America, will vote for Barack Obama! Did anyone ever have any doubts about this?

It doesn't. Getting punched in the face is better than being stabbed or shot. It is just hard for some to understand that there are those who won't accept either of the three.

Our election choices are equivalent of selecting botulism, salmonella or e.coli with your meal.

You’re going to get deathly sick no matter what.

I like your tagline, ditto for me FRiend.

Maybe he is not the perfect “conservative” in your fantasy. but BTW who are you yourself?A perfect conservative with a perfect judgement,a smart wise intelligent person seeing what’s good for your country?
If you have some questions on McCain you might find answers...
But there are no more questions about OBAMA...All the sensible people now perfectly know who he is and where he could lead USA.
Unless you are an OBAMANIAC...

Well, golllee...
If I was given a choice between:
"Getting punched in the face (which) is better than being stabbed or shot."
I'd probably Stage some kind of a (what's that word?) protest rather than accept any of the three.

For that matter, I'm starting to wonder if either (sic) of the three will actually be on the ballot in November(?)

What is the impetus for wondering such a thing? McCain will be on the ballot, along with one of the other Democrats. I am not sure exactly what one would protest? The gullibility, shallowness and ignorance of the American electorate? That ship sailed long ago and is lost at sea.

Add another radical to the list of Obama cult worshippers.

We have Fonda, Farrakhan, Wright, Olbermann, Ted Kennedy, etc.

Yep... and I am getting darned tired of being attacked about a man that I still cannot bring myself to vote for. I know he is a backstabbing and insane liberal liar... but look across the aisle at what he is up against! If I say anything positive about mcqueeg in relation to the two evil ones... I am attacked. Then there is mcnasty opening his big liberal pie hole every chance he gets. I need to find a way to pay all of my bills... payroll taxes... insurance and salaries with “principle”. Maybe some billionaire here on FR will educate me.

Not a hard choice for me but I'm not holding my breath and stamping my feet because a "real conservative" didn't win the nomination.

I prefer to phrase the choice in herpetological terms as being between being bitten by a copperhead (McCain), a rattler (the Witch), and a cottonmouth (the Mudslime). The copperhead's a bit less venomous than the other two, but they're all horrible.

Hey Jane, here's you anti-war candidate and liar.

July ‘04 Obama to the CSM,

“the United States had an “absolute obligation” to remain in Iraq long enough to make it a success.”

“The failure of the Iraqi state would be a disaster,”.”It would dishonor the 900-plus men and women who have already died. . . . It would be a betrayal of the promise that we made to the Iraqi people, and it would be hugely destabilizing from a national security perspective.”

Obama on leaving a “strike force” in Iraq, March 31, 2008,

“What I said is I would have a strike force in the region, perhaps in Iraq, perhaps outside of Iraq, so that we could take advantage of—or we could deal with potential problems that might take place in the region. That's very different from saying we're going to have a permanent occupation in Iraq...”

From the American Communist Party on the 2008 election:

With the undiminished role of the labor-led people's movement, Webb predicted the outcome could bring enormous change that puts people's need before warmaking, sleaze and policies that put profits before peoples need. Such an outcome is possible regardless of whether or not Clinton or Obama wins, he stated.

Jane Fonda, Code Pink, MoveOn, whatever the anti-American group/person might be...Communist and Socialists LOVE the Democratic Socialist Party and that means Barack Hussein Obama and Hillary R. Clinton. Barack just insulted Columbia, SA, both are idiots on NAFTA and the economy – Barack hasn’t a clue about education in his state and all Hillary can do is harp on universal healthcare and neither mean a word they are blathering about solutions.....(have you seen this pic of the mad woman?)

That pretty much locks in the Communist vote for Obama.

Jane was busy cavorting with the North Vietnamese Communists in Hanoi around the same time Obama was studying the koran with the Mullahs in Indonesia.

Go back to DU! You are off the chart insane.

I asked how a traitorous BITCH’s endorsement justifies a statement that implies McCain is a better conservative.

All you did was imply a fantasy world and gave a fantasy filled little speech, but never answered my question as to “how this makes McCain a BETTER CONSERVATIVE?”.

Get a life.

Except under McCain we will see much more suppression of free speech than under Hitlery/Obama.

McCain wants groups that criticize the government to be censored during elections. If he’s elected president the GOP won’t fight it, and you’ll see forums like Free Republic shut down, fined or regulated if they allow people to criticize politicians during elections.

If a Dem president tries that the GOP will fight it tooth and nail, because the censorship will be pushed by a Dem, not a GOP president.

That’s why I’m not voting for McCain. If he gets elected, mark my words, we will look like Canada or Europe, where people are not allowed to criticize Islam or homosexuals, only McCain will add his own special flavor of censorship, like when he outlawed the NRA and Right to Life’s criticizing politicians during elections.
