Sonny Bono 'assassinated' by hitmen
Herald Sun ^ | 4 April 2008

Posted on 04/03/2008 6:20:33 PM PDT by Aussie Dasher

SONNY Bono, former husband and singing partner of superstar Cher, was clubbed to death by hitmen on the orders of drug and weapons dealers who feared he was going to expose them, a former FBI agent claims.

Ted Gunderson, now a private investigator, has told the US Globe tabloid that Bono, who served as mayor of Palm Springs for four years, did not die after hitting a tree on a Nevada ski slope in January 1998 as everyone believed.

"It's nonsense for anyone to now try to suggest that Bono died after crashing into a tree. There's zero evidence in this autopsy report... to show such an accident happened. Instead, there's powerful proof he was assassinated.

"This was an evil plot that was carried out to almost perfection by ruthless assassins," Mr Gunderson told the paper.

The former agent, who has been researching Bono's accident for the past decade, said top officials linked to an international drug and weapons ring feared the singer-turned-politician was about to expose their crimes - so they had him killed on the slopes.

Bono, an experienced skiier, was ambushed on the slopes by hired hitmen, who beat him to death and then staged a tree collision, Mr Gunderson said.

He called for authorities to dig up Bono's remains and open a homicide investigation.

Ha! Have you ever been on a ski slope? A couple of mafia thugs would stand out like a sore thumb. How would they know where he was going to be on a slope with dozens if not hundreds of other skiers?

Someone’s watched too many bad James bond flicks.

It’s always seemed a bit strange to me that an expert skier would slam into a tree hard enough to kill him instantly.

If he hit a patch of ice, all the experience in the world wouldn't have saved him. A young man who was a ski instructor at a local town ski area did the same thing; hit a patch of ice and ran into a tree.

Seems like someone is just trying to trade on some peoples' tendency to believe in conspiracies to sell a book.

Actually, this story is true, except for one important point: the hitmen had nothing to do with drugs or guns. They were hired by a group of people still suffering the after effects of being forced to watch the Sonny and Cher show as children, which caused them untold emotional scars and completely destroyed their ability to enjoy music. Ladies and Gentlemen, this was a revenge killing.

Here's a link:

Even the articles says that the accident "appears accidental."

I'm not into conspiracies but I always found it weird that two politicians could die in skiing accidents and Congress never came up with a bill that would ban skiing.

Sonny Bono killed in skiing accident, CNN Jan, 1998
...Bono, an avid skier, was reported missing about 4:30 p.m. at Heavenly Ski Resort in South Lake Tahoe, California. The resort is about 55 miles (88 km) southwest of Reno, Nevada, on the California-Nevada state line. A ski patrol searched the Nevada side of the mountain and found the body some two hours later...
No eyewitnesses to his demise.

I have skied often and never heard of, or saw anyone hit a tree hard enough to kill them. Always thought there were a lot of questions left unanswered when Bono supposedly crashed into a tree, given that he was an experienced skier and probably knew the slope well. That said, I also wondered why his ex-wife, Cher, and his current wife at the time never questioned the mysterious death and asked for an autopsy . Maybe they knew (or were warned) to "keep quiet?" Things that happen in Las Vegas Nevada...stay in Nevada, I guess.

Tony Frank, former owner of First Nationwide Financial Corporation, an S&L or Thrift Association, sold out to Ford Motor Corp (circa 1990) and after a short while took a job as Postmaster General.

Shortly after he retired he smacked into a tree at a ski-resort and ended up in a long term coma in a hospital.

Do not recall if he died, but he was there a very long time.

Man was an expert skier. No doubt some Ford stockholders didn't like him at all.

Another theory has him, as a washed up rock star, arrange his death, so like Elvis, who was almost broke before he died, he too could get rich on his demise. Somehow, the scheme didn't work out so well.

Considering the fact that you can be running 35 to 50 Mph down a slope, make a small mistake and hit a tree … death usually ensues.

In a quiet ceremony last December 15 in Asheville, North Carolina, Congresswoman Mary Bono (R.CA) widow of entertainer Sonny Bono, was married to Congressman Connie Mack IV (R.FL).

Mack, whose real name is Cornelius Harvey McGillicudy IV is the great, great grandson of the first Connie Mack, owner and manager of the Philadelphia Athletics (1901-1950) and a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Cong. Bono is age 49, Cong. Mack is 41.

Not many people know they got married. I wonder how they manage the official congressional district residency issue, LOL.
