Wife's beer fortune gives McCain access to millions
Associated Press ^ | Thu April 3, 2008

Posted on 04/04/2008 10:00:42 AM PDT by presidio9

On a spring day at a speedway in North Carolina, John McCain posed with his wife, Cindy, and racing star Dale Earnhardt Jr., highlighting the couple's political and business interests in a single snapshot.

McCain served as honorary starter of the NASCAR race that weekend in Charlotte, N.C. Earnhardt drove the Budweiser car, painted military camouflage, rather than its trademark red, to honor the troops.

Budweiser, then NASCAR's official beer, is brewed by Anheuser-Busch Cos. Inc., whose products have made Cindy McCain and her family a fortune.

The brewer sold toy replicas of its race car to aid the Special Operations Warrior Foundation and publicized its support for the group, on whose board John McCain served and whose chairman later endorsed him. The speedway appearance helped McCain court NASCAR voters, and his campaign circulated video of the event over the Internet.

The McCains' marriage has mixed business and politics from the beginning, according to an expansive review by The Associated Press of thousands of pages of campaign, personal finance, real estate and property records nationwide. The paperwork chronicles the McCains' ascent from Arizona newlyweds to political power couple on the national stage.

As heiress to her father's stake in Hensley & Co. of Phoenix, Cindy McCain is an executive whose worth may exceed $100 million. Her beer earnings have afforded the GOP presidential nominee a wealthy lifestyle with a private jet and vacation homes at his disposal, and her connections helped him launch his political career -- even if the millions remain in her name alone. Yet the arm's-length distance between McCain and his wife's assets also has helped shield him from conflict-of-interest problems.

Nearly 30 years before John McCain

If the MSM thinks this will negatively hurt McCain they are very much mistaken. Even good God fearing Christians like a good beer every now and then and the pastor better wrap it up before NASCAR starts.

I agree. But what do they think of a man who fooled around on his crippled wife with a much younger rich woman and then dumped the wife?

This is a mildy negative story..just wait..there won’t be one positive story on McCain,,until he looses in Nov. Then they will roll out a story about what a great sport he is and how he has done so much good in the senate,,and then he will do his Viagra ad.
We need to fight Osbama with everything we’ve got..we need to get out the conservative vote to elect a conservative congress.
We need to get Rush to work on a conservative congressional win just as hard as he has worked on Operation Chaos.

I really wasn’t commenting on the article as I had seen it a few days before. Sorry if my post was misleading, I was just poking a little fun at ladtx who had made a post that contained no comment.

You are right about the MSM though they haven’t started on the Republican yet, I’m sure it will be quite a barrage.

This is just the beginning for Johnnie boy. The day will come when he is under fire and he will look around for all those “moderate Democrats” for support, and he will find tumbleweeds. There will be no “moderates”, because in their heart, they are Democrats. There will be no media, because they had no further use for him. There will be no Conservatives, because he didn’t need them. He’ll have a few spineless, blue blood Republicans who only know how to surrender, and himself. The Maverick.

So McCain has ties to "big beer"? ...Just like Bush's ties to "big oil".

Well, I for one think this country needs a reform of its beer policy.

Diverting hops and barley production into corn for ethanol has to stop. We need to subsidize beer production so that lower income American's can enjoy the same "high life" that the privileged classes enjoy.

Lots of money in having a major market beer distributorship... The Andrews family (here in Dallas) own's Andrews Distributing (mostly Miller beer)... Mr. Andrews and family swim in waves of money.

The family is always in Dallas' society pages... often see Mr. Andrews hob-nobbing with the likes of Jerry "dingle berry" Jones (owner of the Dullus Cowgirlz).

yeah, but not “Bud” or Coors - the nadirs of bottled beer.

We need more beers like Sam Adams or Guiness Stout here.

For the life of me, I can’t understand what Cindy McCain saw in this little man. He is shorter than her, does not come from money and he is not good looking. BARF! Not to mention, he is a lot older than her. Maybe she was looking for a father figure or something.

Inquiring minds want to know.

Typical of AP ~ not a word on the Clintonistas pulling down over $100 million in the last few years but dumping all over the place on Mrs. McCain because she has a rich daddy ~ who does not have as much money as the Clintonistas.

This should be considered a free-will campaign donation by AP to the Clintonistas.

There are no Moderates, there are no Moderate Democrats ~ there are only Radical Democrats and they want to steal all our stuff, take away our guns, teach our kids to put condoms on bananas, allow their third grade teachers to introduce them to "heavy dating", send police into our bedrooms to search them for illegal weapons, and on and on and on. All the typical Leftwingtard proto-fascist stuff.

Oh, yeah, and in the end, those Moderates want to kill all the Jews Hitler missed.

Why McCain wants to think they'll vote for him raises questions about his sanity.

Gee, John McCain is just like MICHAEL SCHIAVO because they are both advocates for neglect of the disabled.

Good point!

Why was it okay for Michael Schiavo to leave his disabled wife for another woman and then kill his wife for her money, but not okay for McCain to leave his disabled wife for a woman with money?

I know for a certain fact that McCain and his first wife have always been on very friendly terms, I suspect that Terri felt nothing but disgust and horror for Mikey as she was being murdered.
