Is Wright Right About Racism (Hoo Boy, get the popcorn to get a load of this asshat!)
Creators Syndicate ^ | 4/4/08 | David Sirota

Posted on 04/04/2008 11:19:21 AM PDT by meandog

Since the 1960s, bigotry has undergone an aesthetic makeover. Today, the most pernicious racists do not wear pointy hoods, scream epithets and anonymously burn crosses from behind masks. They don starched suits, recite sententious bromides and stage political lynchings before television cameras. For proof, behold the mob stalking Barack Obama's former pastor, Jeremiah Wright.

Wright has long delivered fiery (and occasionally outrageous) sermons, to little fanfare. Now, though, a gang of thugs is inflicting a guilt-by-association blow to Obama by excoriating his spiritual adviser for three specific declarations.

Sean Hannity, Fox News' own George Wallace, turned a fire hose on Wright for his church's focus. "[The church] is all about the black community," Hannity thundered, claiming that means Wright supports "a black-separatist agenda."

Pat Buchanan billy-clubbed Wright for saying, "God damn America." The MSNBC commentator, who avoided the draft, implied that Wright, a former Marine, lacks sufficient loyalty to country. Out of context, Wright's exclamation was admittedly offensive. But remember: It punctuated a speech about segregation. Buchanan, nonetheless, unleashed, deriding "black hustlers" and insisting descendants of those "brought from Africa in slave ships" owe whites a thank you. "Where is the gratitude?" he asked.

I guess saying God Bless Hitler would be OK if it was in the context of discussion how evil Jews really are.

The worst bigots of the past 30-40 years have been all the rabid racist demagogues of the Wright-Sharpton-Jesse variety, and their media enablers such as the ass-clown writing this column.

Sirota really doesn’t grasp the concept of the double standard. He should read up on it.

The Wright rantings didn’t wake me up near as much as the supporters that came out of the woodwork.

This author/asshat is just another one.

But, I encourage them, I WANT them to come out of the woodwork. It’s time everyone else woke up to this grievance mongering, ungrateful, racist asshatism that has gone ignored for too long.

This Liberal White Guilt thing seems to be catching.

I really liked this tasty morsel:

.” Similarly, according to Mother Jones magazine, Hillary Clinton belongs to the “Fellowship” — a secretive group “dedicated to ‘spiritual war’ on behalf of Christ.”

Well, if those spiritual warriors at Mother Jones said so, I reckon it must be true.

Thats like asking why rich white kids take drugs and join ANSWER and chant anti-US slogans at rallies.Whats wrong with THEM?They have the world at their fingertips so why are they bitching.
Seems like it is human nature to never be satisfied.Blacks are no different. If Obama is elected and Democrats maintain Congress, most will still say a black man can’t make it in America.
I know thats not logical. But its reality.

A very good question.

I wonder what Wright's opinion of Zimbabwe would be? Is that all whitey's fault, too?

The MSNBC commentator, who avoided the draft, implied that Wright, a former Marine, lacks sufficient loyalty to country.

Exactly which sins and omissions are absolved by service in the US Armed Forces Mr. Sirota? Because there's a long list of lunatics with "demonstrated patriotism", to quote a Chicago Tribtoon editorial, who would like a do over.

Lee Harvey Oswald (USMC), Charles Whitman (US Army), Jeffrey Dahmer (US Army), and Tim McVeigh (US Army)? How about “demonstrated” patriots like John Muhammad ("The Beltway Sniper"), Arthur Shawcross, Randy Kraft, Dennis Rader ("BTK"), Howard Unruh, Robert Lee Yates, Gary Heidnik, Charles Cullen, Charles Ng, Henry Louis Wallace, Julian Knight, Courtney Mathews & David Housler, Daryl Keith Holton, Wayne Adam Ford, Richard Marc Evonitz, veterans all. I’m sure those victims and families who survived the horrors unleashed by these lunatics won’t be so inclined as David Sirota to overlook their misdeeds.

You can wrap a flag around a stinking pig, but he’s still a pig and he still stinks.

Obama and the media missed a golden opportunity to have an honest talk about racism. That honest talk would have began with calling Wright’s sermon what it is: “black racism”. There is no such thing as “reverse racism”.

Sirota, what a dweeb. looking at that guy, and reading his BS, is there any doubt, that people like him , would vote for obama even if he came out and said “I’ll turn this country into a 3rd world pit, and give what’s left to the UN”

they would do it just so they can tell themselves: “golly, I sure glad I’m not a racist, I proved it by voting obama”

Sirota sounds Italian therefore I wonder what his reaction would be if I were to opine: “Since the 1930s, bigotry has undergone an aesthetic makeover. Today, the most pernicious bigots do not wear pinstripe double-breasted coats, scream “Mick” at Bugs Moran or “Jew Boy” at Meyer Lansky, and anonymously smash kegs of illegal booze with Tommy guns from behind model T Fords. They don starched suits, recite sententious bromides and stage political lynchings before television cameras. For proof, behold the wop mob that stalked New York’s Eliott Spitzer.

Actually what bigotry has undergone since the 1960s is redefinition. Back then it used to mean unwarranted discrimination again people of different skin color, ethnicity, gender, etc. These days, according to the paragraph above, it apparently means disagreement by anyone who doesn't happen to be of your political persuasion.

I'm heartily sick of hearing about racism in the matter of Obama and his preacher. Millions of people of all different skin colors have voted for Obama in the primaries. He stands a good chance of being elected president. Claiming that he suffers from racism is absurd and outrageous. The simple fact of the matter is that the clearest example of public racism in this country today is Obama's preacher.

Sirota must be as much of an Italian like that moron Joy Bee-har, who gladly excuses Wright’s attacks on Italian-Americans. Meanwhile if some conservative said a thing like that, Joy and company would be screaming bloody murder.

This article is a poor attempt at misdirection. The Wright fiasco is hurting Obama, has hurt Obama and will continue to hurt Obama politically.

Obama and his supporters are going to work like hell to make this story go away. The author of this article is setting up straw men and trying to utilize moral relativism to exonerate both Wright and Obama. They throw out what a few other religious leaders have done or said, hoping the electorate is stupid enough to buy into their subterfuge.

This is not about what Wright said versus what some other religious leader may or may not have said in the past. This is about Wright having a discernible pattern of promoting and practicing bigotry from the pulpit, and Obama, sitting there for 20 years listening to it without objection.

My version:

"Since the 1960s, bigotry has undergone an aesthetic makeover. Now it is called "liberalism". Today, the most pernicious racists do not wear pointy hoods, scream epithets and anonymously burn crosses from behind masks. They scream hate-filled, racist rants from pulpits and at DNC meetings. They don starched suits, recite sententious bromides and stage political lynchings before television cameras. That darned Hillary! For proof, behold the mob stalking Barack Obama's former hate-filled, racist pastor, Jeremiah Wright. Wright has long delivered hate-filled, racist, fiery (and occasionally outrageous) sermons, to little fanfare except for black parishoners who jump around, laugh, scream and flail their arms. Now, though, a gang of non-thugs is inflicting a guilt-by-association blow to Obama by excoriating his hate-filled, racist spiritual adviser for three specific declarations. Of course, those are the only ones for which we have evidence. It doesn't take Jules Verne to have the imagination to suppose that he has made thousands of others.

Sean Hannity, Fox News' own George Wallace, (we could sure use George right now), turned a fire hose on the hate-filled, racist Wright for his church's focus. "[The hate-filled, racist church] is all about the black community," Hannity thundered, claiming that means the hate-filled, racist Wright supports "a black-separatist agenda." We know that he actually supports a black-supremacy agenda. Duh!

Pat Buchanan billy-clubbed the hate-filled, racist Wright for saying, "God damn America.""

I like my version better.

Early on, it was predicted that liberals would find a way to excuse -- even rationalize -- Rev. Wright's racist rantings.

Sirota's pathetic apologia is a perfect example of what was expected from the liberal "intelligentsia".
