In Memphis, Clinton Calls for Cabinet Post on Poverty

MEMPHIS — Hillary Rodham Clinton called for a cabinet-level poverty czar and John McCain said he was wrong to vote a quarter century ago against a federal holiday in memory of Martin Luther King Jr. as both presidential candidates converged here on Friday for the 40th anniversary of Dr. King’s assassination.

Sen. John McCain spoke at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, the site where the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. was killed 40 years ago. From the Memphis church where King delivered his last sermon on the evening before he was gunned down by James Earl Ray, Mrs. Clinton gave her support to an idea long advocated by the King family, a cabinet position that she said would be “solely and fully devoted to ending poverty as we know it, that will focus the attention of our nation on this issue and never let it go.”

Mrs. Clinton added: “No more excuses, no more whining, but instead a concerted effort.”

I believe there was a declared “War on Poverty” that goes back to King’s days.

40+ years later, there’s still “poverty.” Didn’t work then, won’t work now.

The “sainted” King family has a long night ahead wiping Hillary’s lipstick off their behinds.

Well, we’ve spent about $5,000,000,000,000+ on poverty since 1965. The poverty rate remains relatively unchanged.

Maybe we should have cabinet secretaries and staff to deal with obesity, junk food, the tobacco scourge, the propensity for young girls to be videotaped flashing their tasty body parts on Spring break, and people dressing up as pirates on Halloween as well.

AAAAARRRRGGGGHHH!

Oh isn't she just brilliant, another socialist dufus sitting around cleaning their fingernails and dusting the seat of their chair with the butt draining the U.S. Treasury on another program to keep Washington bureaudemocrats in office.

What's the latest price tag for all of her brilliancy, when she can't even pay her own bills for medical premiums for her campaign staff. The only calls she will get at 3:00 a.m. is from the bill collectors.

Hillary Rodham Clinton called for a cabinet-level poverty czar

If the gov't keeps taxing us and pissing our money away, we will need one.

Poverty comes from children born out of wedlock and from illegal aliens.

I’m sure this Poverty Czar will do for poverty what the education secretary has done for our schools and the energy secretary has done for energy production.

If it was Jimmuh Carter, he would call for a cabinet post for a Department of Malaise.

Same difference.
