A rich China not threat to world, Bill Gates says

MIAMI (Reuters) - China's growing wealth is good for the world, and there will come a time when the influence of the United States shrinks to the level of its share of the world population, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates said on Friday.

Asked at a meeting of the Inter-American Development Bank in Miami whether he regarded China's growing influence in Latin America as a threat, Gates, one of the world's richest people, said not at all.

"The fact that China is getting rich is overall a very good thing. The fact that more minds are getting educated is huge. If you care about the human condition, really then a richer China is better," Gates told a seminar on corporate philanthropy

Yeah, I can't wait until China has a super world class military and economy, 50 times larger than ours.

Tough call. Maybe Ted will cannibalize Bill and then shut down unexpectedly saving the world from ever hearing either of their moronic opinions again.

Microslop strikes again . . .

bloated buggy software . . .

and bloated buggy traitorous political pontifications . . .

all outrageously priced and held out as the best thing since Shrillery’s chronic, habitual and pathological lies.

Must be a globalist disease.

As Milton Freidman pointed out, economic success requires political freedom. Economic success also requires political stability. As they are finding out political freedom threatens political stability. China has a fine line to walk.

A rich Chinese populace may not be a threat, but a rich Chinese government is another matter.

“A rich Chinese populace may not be a threat, but a rich Chinese government is another matter.”

You got it pretty much correct. Typically, revolution and radical change is often spawned by a disgruntled student population. However in China, because of it's rapid economic growth, there is a shortage of young educated and skilled talent. Consequently, these people are given preferential treatment and are paid very well by Chinese standards. This is the quid pro quo for their silence and compliance. As a result, we won't be seeing another Tienanmen Square anytime soon...

Two Words : Windows Vista. Now STFU Bill.

Two more words: OEM Installed.

How much Vista sucks is largely irrelevant. The computer buying public has a very wide range of suckiness they will accept before this will change, and Vista will live, and quite probably thrive because of this.

Damn shame that Bill believes that China's influence should expand at the expense of the US' tho'. Glad my money isn't supporting such anti-American activity.

China's growing wealth is good for the world, and there will come a time when the influence of the United States shrinks to the level of its share of the world population, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates said on Friday.

A few weeks ago I told a co-worker the Clinton administration had purposely built up China's military capability to counter the US's influence as the world's lone superpower. He thought I was a raving lunatic.

He asked if this was a secret "conspiracy theory" and I said, no, they were quite open about it. Thank you Bill Gates for proving the way leftists think about their own country..

Actually, its gone farther than that. MS has actually allowed the Chinese government to view the source code of Windows, and make modifications to it for its own use. ie. customized cryptography.

These people all profess to loathe Hitler, but when their chance to deal with that government type comes up, there they are standing in line like pigs at the trough.

This is a time in history when I can afford to be less wealthy and more honorable.

Billy is just blindfolded or “buried” by his money. He can’t think straight or he is just a business man. That’s just naive thinking that those CCP Poliburo monsters would give up their instant interests and privileges and Free China. Given the fact they have climbed up to that high point, they have given up their souls a while ago, bribing, kissing as#, and “stabbing” behind somebody else’s back, blocking justice and freedom from their inferiors, etc. When you know who are in control, then you can’t count on peaceful transformation. And through making China rich? Eventually those Chinese people that have suffered from their so-called economic freedom will definitely cause some political instability for Billy type to taste some bitter fruits

A rich China with a free and open political system would
actually be good for the world.

Unfortunately, that’s not the situation, and the indicators continue to show that’s not where China is
headed.

He’s not befriending Soros for money. The only other thing on that level is power.

What should we expect from a college drop-out? I saw Gates open the consumer electronics show a few years ago and I was stunned that rather than words of an uplifting nature, he spent the whole speech hawking his latest wares.
