When are folks gonna figure out that Obama is nothing more than a shameless liar? He attend Jeremiah Wright's church for 20 years. What Wright believes is a lot closer to what Obama actually believes than anything he's said in the past year. he's simply a lying con man trying to dupe America into electing him president.

What difference does it make if Levy didn't own a gun or what "circles" he travels in? He was actually willing to go out, find some plaintiffs, and challenge the D.C. gun ban while the NRA not only stood on the sidelines, but actively worked to cut him off at the knees.
I guess you'd rather have someone pose with a shotgun like John Kerry than actually go out and defend the Constitution. If that's the case, then I guess the NRA is the organization for you. I'll stick with Cato on this one.
Also, I have a pretty good idea how Kennedy is going to vote, just by reading the transcript of the oral arguments. It will probably be 5-4 that the 2nd Amendment protects and individual right and that D.C. ban is unconstitutional.
Ginsberg and Breyer will probably concur on the individual right but argue that the D.C. ban constitutes a permissible "reasonable regulation" of that right. Ginsberg has said publicly before that she believes the 2nd Amendment protects and individual right, and that view is very consistent with Breyer's judicial philosophy.

The NRA and the rest of the gunowners waited over forty years and now we have to worry about a swing vote 5-4? The NRA had a right to worry and you should too.
If it works out, you can tell me you told me so. If it doesn’t, we’ll be too busy loading up and having real problems.

“Clearly this man who has sworn to uphold the Constitution, has not even gotten to the 2nd amendment. The security of the state is not threatened by ducks, but rather by quacks like Obama.”
Have you ever slipped on a pile of duck droppings????? Those darn things are trying to kill us all. But please, rest easy, duck killing patriots like me are out there on the front lines. When duty calls ,we grab our shotguns and dogs, and head out into the dangers of nature to keep these Dinosaurs from reclaiming the planet. We are what keeps you safe at night from these vile creatures. Just remember, it’s a tough job, but it’s a calling.
Sorry, I just couldn’t help myself. ;>)

The time is ripe now. Liberal legal academia is swinging to our point of view, we have an ironclad argument, and the facts are on our side.
Also, I really don't see Kennedy as a swing vote on this issue. The "swing votes" will be Ginsberg and Breyer.
Besides, how much longer do you want to wait? What if we have President Obama with a Democrat Congress? Think it's going to get any better for us then?
Levy made the right move at the right time. I don't care about "told you so"s. I care about our side fighting as hard as the other side. Unfortunately, the NRA comes down on the side of political expediency too many times for my tastes.

I just love it when RATS shoot themselves in the foot. The worst possible thing Obamanation could have done is to anger gun owners. We don't take kindly to those traitors who want to take our guns. He will lose the election because of his position on gun control. I would be willing to bet that Rev. Jeremiah Wright and that Catholic father were great influnces on him in this matter.

The NRA doesn’t manufacture votes. That is a reality. There is no Santa Claus, Easter Bunny and the NRA doesn’t have a pro-gun majority in the Congress or the Senate.
The anti-gun lobbying group AARP outnumbers the NRA by a ten to one margin. That’s because there are too many Fudds sitting on their couches voting and thinking the way their anti-gun unions tell them.
There are also a lot of gunowners who make every excuse in the world not to join any gun LOBBYING group.

I thought the chief reason for not joining the NRA was that they were too quick to cave to the liberals whenever their actions can burnish their reputation as a mover and shaker in Washington.
To: Kaslin
They can't carry concealed in Illinois because the Daley Machine that controls the Democratic Party will never allow it to see the light of day. There are strong gun rights folks downstate but they are outvoted by Chicago - which also owns the governor.

No, the chief reason is armchair know-it-alls can’t get off the couch and throw away a mailer.
By the way, I don’t get facts about an organization from non-members.

Do you have any idea what the chief reason for not joining the NRA is? The nonmembers complain they have to get off the LazyBoy to throw out a mailer" B.S.
The NRA lost 35% of its membership when it broke its own bylaws to put an elitist gun-grabbing snob in the top slot, instead of a defender of our rights.

Nope again. Check the posts on the whiny crybaby Freepers here who won’t join the NRA.
I asked one if the route from his mailbox to his trashcan was a minefield. He certainly acted like it was.

Will somebody ask this idiot about crime statistics in areas that prohibit concealed carry, thus advertising a defenseless citizenry?

There are plenty of other organizations out there besides the NRA, if the NRA is too wimpy for you. The NRA has not been Simon pure, it is certain, which is why I direct my checks in other directions these days.
That being said, they are the biggest and most effective organization out there. It is far more important to be active, than it is which organization you work with. Many good things can even be accomplished on your own. I've done a few, as have many others.
There is lots of work to be done.

I would want to take away everyones guns also, if I had a big bullseye on me.
