(AR) Ballot Initiative Filed Over Illegal Immigration
KATV Little Rock ^ | April 05, 2008 | Staff Writer

Posted on 04/05/2008 4:14:32 PM PDT by Tennessee Nana

A ballot initiative before the attorney general's office would require those seeking public benefits from the state to prove their citizenship.

The measure by Secure Arkansas, a group chaired by Jeannie Burlsworth of Bryant, would make individuals sign an affidavit under the penalty of perjury that they are lawfully living in the United States. Burlsworth says the measure is aimed at stopping illegal immigrants from receiving state benefits.

Attorney General Dustin McDaniel has until April 9 to review the proposed ballot title. If approved, supporters of the measure could begin gathering the required 61,974 signatures needed to place it before voters in November.

Arizona, Oklahoma, Arkansas . . .

Just the beginning.

States are apparently tired of footing the bill for the breakdown of federal policing.

The lack of ID at Daily’s or Weigels is doing it.

That means Arkansans will have to put a lot of pressure on him and their politicians to pass this legislation.

Well, Nana gal, let’s not get carried away just yet! Arkansas’ laws against illegals aren’t nearly as tough as AZ’s nor as tough on employers as GA’s or OK’s...They gotta ways ta go! But it’s a start.

It started with our Prop 200 here in Arizona. Our mistake was not spelling out specifically which benefits were disallowed - and our milksop State AG gutted the bill with his ‘interpretation’ of what ‘public benefits’ meant.

Let’s hope Arkansas gets it right, and that more states get this on their ballots.

Not that I'm against this kind of idea, but illegal aliens live a lie every day they are in this country. What's one more lie to people like that?

Attorney General Dustin McDaniel has until April 9 to review the proposed ballot title. If approved, supporters of the measure could begin gathering the required 61,974 signatures needed to place it before voters in November.Being the Governor and the AG are big time RATs who floated into office with the illegal vote the odds of this measure getting approved is slightly less than zero. If it does get approved because of political expediency then the signatures will be counted and recounted and recounted until there are less than 61,874.

The RATs can not afford to let the people vote on this because they need to buy those votes with the tax-payers money in order to stay in office. That's why all the official signs at the polls are in English and Spanish.
