Revered Jeremiah Wright, "former Muslim" (?!)
THe New Republic ^ | March 07 | Ryan Lizza

Posted on 04/07/2008 2:29:18 PM PDT by Timeout

Today I came across this year-old, largely biographical article about Barack Obama. It reads as though Lizza relied on Obama for large chunks of the piece, with other material coming from his books and interviews with those who knew him.

About 2/3's down the page, I came across this astonishing nugget:

After many lectures like this, Obama decided to take a second look at Wright's church. Older pastors warned him that Trinity was for "Buppies"--black urban professionals--and didn't have enough street cred. But Wright was a former Muslim and black nationalist who had studied at Howard and Chicago, and Trinity's guiding principles--what the church calls the "Black Value System"--included a "Disavowal of the Pursuit of Middleclassness.'"
Wright is a "former Muslim"?!

I've never seen this anywhere else. Where did Lizza get it....from Obama? From Wright (whom he apparently interviewed)?

Have any of you ever heard that before?

Thank you. Anyone who thinks he isn’t a Muslim because he eats shellfish, drinks liquor or is a homosexual is fooling themselves. Muslims are allowed to do such things if they have to pretend they’re infidels, plus there is a huge undercurrent of faggotry in Islam, and plus his own upbringing, statements and policies show his loyalty to Islam.

Knew it two years ago, you’re late to the party!

;-)

Good find.

Here’s another interesting thing if you can find it. An Egyptian born Christian - a young man, whose father is also a minister, had a series of Youtubes I saw at least 1 1/2 years ago. He called up the Wright Church and asked if he could join. The phone answering lady welcomed him. He then said that he is a Muslim and is that okay.

She answered that plenty of our members are Muslims, no problem. The he asked if 0thugga is a Muslim. Lady hung up on him.

I think this might have been before the elections, when Wright was still top dog there.

Wright was with Farrakhan’s faux “Nation of Islam”.

As I've tried to point out countless times, the "Black Muslim" movement in the US is a "Black Liberation Theology" (revolutionary communist) front movement. It's basically no different than what Wright is doing today. Communists concocted various BS religions to use as a means of advancing the revolutionary communist agenda. Most of the participants (dupes), however, actually believe it's about religion. It isn't.

Louis Farrakhan, Santiago de Cuba, February, 1998:
"There is not a member of the black masses in the United States who is not proud of the example set by Cuba and its revolution, with Comandante Fidel at its head"

Unity generates power to change reality
By the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan

"The time has never been more ripe for a strategic relationship between the Black, Brown, Native American and the poor of this nation and the world."

"We need a Ministry of Defense. Our young men are born soldiers, but they are in the wrong war. They are fighting a war in the streets of America against each other, or they are fighting an unjust war overseas in Afghanistan and Iraq. We need to bring our boys home and put them into the Ministry of Defense, so we can defend our communities, rather than destroy our communities.

We need a Ministry of Art and Culture. We applaud the hip hop community, the leaders of young people all over the world, but I want the young generation of artists to know there is a bigger purpose for art and culture than popping our fingers and shaking our backsides.

Mao Tse Tung, throughout his long march to conquer China, had a billion people whose lives he had to transform. Many of them were victims of opium, drugs and prostitution, like we are. But Mao Tse Tung went to the cultural community and they accepted his idea. Then, through song, dance, poetry, drama, documentaries, movies and books, the idea of Mao Tse Tung became the idea of a billion people. China became a world power on the base of culture and the artistic community. If we had a Ministry of Art and Culture in every city, [we'd] create this movement [in the U.S.], we could say to our young people, “What is the idea of the Time and are you reflecting that idea in your songs, dance and music?

We need a Ministry of Trade and Commerce. Do you think that a Millions More Movement should not be involved in the development of Africa, the Caribbean and Central America? ... we need a Ministry of Trade and Commerce that can link the struggle here with Africa and the Caribbean, Central and South America.

The Real Story Behind Rev. Wright's Controversial Black Liberation Theology Doctrine
Monday , May 5, 2008
FoxNews/Hannity's America
[special Friday night edition--original airdate May 2, 2008]

(some key excerpts)

["(Jose) Diaz-Balart is the son of Rafael Diaz-Balart y Guitierrez (a former Cuban politician). He has three bothers, Rafael Diaz-Balart (a banker), Mario Diaz-Balart (a US Congressman) and Lincoln Diaz-Balart (also a US Congressman). His aunt, Mirta Diaz-Balart, was Fidel Castro's first wife."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jose_Diaz-Balart]

JOSE DIAZ-BALART, TELEMUNDO NETWORK: "Liberation theology in Nicaragua in the mid-1980's was a pro-Sandinista, pro-Marxist, anti-U.S., anti-Catholic Church movement. That's it. No ifs, ands, or buts. His church apparently supported, in the mid-'80s in Nicaragua, groups that supported the Sandinista dictatorships and that were opposed to the Contras whose reason for being was calling for elections. That's all I know. I was there.

I saw the churches in Nicaragua that he spoke of, and the churches were churches that talked about the need for violent revolution and I remember clearly one of the major churches in Managua where the Jesus Christ on the altar was not Jesus Christ, he was a Sandinista soldier, and the priests talked about the corruption of the West, talked about the need for revolution everywhere, and talked about 'the evil empire' which was the United States of America."

REV. BOB SCHENCK, NATIONAL CLERGY COUNCIL: "it's based in Marxism. At the core of his [Wright's] theology is really an anti-Christian understanding of God, and as part of a long history of individuals who actually advocate using violence in overthrowing those they perceive to be oppressing them, even acts of murder have been defended by followers of liberation theology. That's very, very dangerous."

SCHENCK: "I was actually the only person escorted to Dr. Wright. He asked to see me, and I simply welcomed him to Washington, and then I said Dr. Wright, I want to bring you a warning: your embrace of Marxist liberation theology. It is contrary to the Gospel, and you need, sir, to abandon it. And at that he dropped the handshake and made it clear that he was not in the mood to dialogue on that point."

Obama's Church: Gospel of Hate
Kathy Shaidle, FrontPageMag.com
Monday, April 07, 2008

In March of 2007, FOX News host Sean Hannity had engaged Obama’s pastor in a heated interview about his Church’s teachings. For many viewers, the ensuing shouting match was their first exposure to "Black Liberation Theology"...

Like the pro-communist Liberation Theology that swept Central America in the 1980s and was repeatedly condemned by Pope John Paul II, Black Liberation Theology combines warmed-over 1960s vintage Marxism with carefully distorted biblical passages. However, in contrast to traditional Marxism, it emphasizes race rather than class. The Christian notion of "salvation" in the afterlife is superseded by "liberation" on earth, courtesy of the establishment of a socialist utopia.

Catholics for Marx [Liberation Theology]
By Fr. Robert Sirico
FrontPageMagazine.com | Thursday, June 03, 2004

In the days when the Superpowers were locked in a Cold War, Latin America seethed with revolution, and millions lived behind an iron curtain, a group of theologians concocted a novel idea within the history of Christianity. They proposed to combine the teachings of Jesus with the teachings of Marx as a way of justifying violent revolution to overthrow the economics of capitalism.

The Gospels were re-rendered not as doctrine impacting on the human soul but rather as windows into the historical dialectic of class struggle. These "liberation theologians" saw every biblical criticism of the rich as a mandate to expropriate the expropriating owners of capital, and every expression of compassion for the poor as a call for an uprising by the proletarian class of peasants and workers.

Re: Reverend Jeremiah Wright, "former Muslim" (?!)

I didn't realize the posted article was over 2 years old. It's dated April 2008. In any case, most folks still don't understand what Farrakhan and the "Black Muslims" are really about (hint: it ain't Allah). :)

Wright is a "former Muslim"?!

This has been out there since before the election in 2008. It would probably be more accurate to take out the "former" part and replace it with "undercover." Remember the church told someone who called and asked if they had to give up Islam to join the church, "No, we have many Muslims." The person then asked what he had to do to become part of the church and was told he had to attend two Sundays and then walk down the aisle. On the other hand, Black Muslim Theology is to Islam what Black Liberation Theology is to Christianity.

I'm coming to the conclusion that we're just talking amongst ourselves and not DOING anything. We're not out in the real word WHERE IT COUNTS.

Solid conclusion. Thus my New Year's resolution to freep less and get out where talk might lead to action. In fact, I'm coming to the conclusion that the internet is another opiate of the masses, and only making oppression more tolerable.
