CBS, the home of the most storied news division in broadcasting, has been in discussions with Time Warner about a deal to outsource some of its newsgathering operations to CNN, two executives briefed on the matter said Monday.
Over the last decade, CNN has held on-again, off-again talks with both ABC News and CBS News about various joint ventures but during the last several months, talks with CBS have been revived and lately intensified, according to the executives who were granted anonymity because of the confidential nature of the negotiations.
Broadly speaking, the executives described conversations about reducing CBS’s newsgathering capacity while keeping its frontline personalities, like Katie Couric, the CBS Evening News anchor, and paying a fee to CNN to buy the cable network’s news feeds.
Another possibility, these people said, would be that CBS would keep its correspondents in a certain region but pair them with CNN crews.
But, these people cautioned, no deal was imminent. Through a spokesman, CBS declined to comment. A CNN spokeswoman said, “we don’t comment on speculative business matters.”
For CNN, a deal with a broadcast network would mean a new revenue stream without having to add much in additional costs. For CBS, an arrangement with a cable channel would allow it to cut costs while maintaining the CBS News brand, although in a much pared down fashion. CBS is mired in last place amid the continuing struggles of Ms. Couric, who was given a $15-million a year contract, to attract new viewers.

AS IF the screaming media was not reporting the same “news” as all the other networks, ABC,cBS, NBC, CNBC, PSNBC, MCNBC and some Fox liberals? With Clinton News Network collecting “information” for cBS, will we be getting news or CNN propaganda? Of course I seldom read the printed news or listen to the actor/actresses readers on the main/screaming media, I check into various overseas papers also, cause they have more US news than our “pretty people” who read whatever someone puts in front of them, to tell the scheeple. Of course there are a few, VERY FEW, real newspeople, ie, Brit Hume and a few others, but the rest????????????? PHEEEEWOOOOEEEE.

When all network news agencies ideas of “reporting” consist of reading aloud press releases from PR firms and government issued reports, when we only get one “spin” on every story on every channel & newspaper, what’s the difference? They might as well have only one news channel— The Corporate News Network!
I guess Dan Rather couldn't lie fast and quick enough for CBS so they called in the pros -- CNN!
Well CNN meets the same “fake but accurate” standards as CBS.

Just the outhouse describing how the sewage of disinformation will be formed when it is combined at the bottom of the pile. I’ve met a lot of people in the airport restrooms who would rather stay in the rest rooms so as to listen to restroom sounds rather than listen to the phony B.S. coming from the CNN-provided-TV’s in the waiting areas.
Makes sense, from a business as well as an ideological point of view. It's all about economies of scale, reducing overhead, and consolidating resources. Profit. The two entities are liberal socialist "peas in a pod" and all that, so why not join forces to promote their Democrat party?
She wouldn’t be worth $15 mill even if she performed porno acts 24/7 on tv, or gave couch time to every CBS exec for life...that’s about as dumb as paying $15 mill for a barnyard cat to make a barn the most mouse-free barn in the country. Howard Stern couldn’t get $15 mill for five minuts of fame if he personally paid Oprah $50 mill to give him a skully on national tv. Write a $15 mill check to several hundred families of Iraq-war wounded military and air their stories for several years and their ratings would soar out of sight.
And visa versa
Katie Coric would turn 3,000 tricks per year at Ashley Dupre rates to reach $15 million. Before the year runs its course, Katie would lose the “perky”.
