Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, a Democratic candidate for president, said on Tuesday that the United States should set a timetable to pull its troops out of Iraq to pressure leaders there to establish peace.
"Increased pressure in a measured way, in my mind ... includes a timetable for withdrawal. Nobody's asking for a precipitous withdrawal, but I do think that it has to be a measured but increased pressure," Obama told Gen. David Petraeus, the top U.S. commander in Iraq.

Your right O lets set a time table, announce it to the world, the terrorists will lay low and behave themselves until we are gone, and then....... And then we can hols hands and sing of peace in our time.

Obama, you're about the most inept, lying, incompetent yet
dangerous candidate for president, well, you and Clinton, well, I'm not so sure about McCain either! NONE of you should be running.
Senator McCain, thank you for your service sir, why didn't you just go home and enjoy retirement?
Lordy, what a mess we're in.

And I wonder what qualifies as “pressure”, if not threatening to abandon them to the radicals we’re currently protecting them from?

"Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, a Democratic candidate for president, said on Tuesday that the United States should set a timetable to pull its troops out of Iraq to pressure leaders there to establish peace. " This guy is not naive and he is not foolish. He knows that the only pressure, once such a timetable is set, will be upon us. Our enemies will be free to bide their time, feeling no pressure, knowing that on a given date certain that they will have won and can then do as they please.
This guy is an enemy to this Republic and the fundamental principles upon which it was founded and upon which it rests.

And that, in a nutshell, is precisely the kind of limited tunnel vision that drives this idiot. No experience in these matters, even at the most rudimentary levels, makes him unfit for CIC of the Des Moines Waterworks, let alone the US.
This is a recipe for disaster.

How brilliant to call for a timetable for retreat when the strong case is being made that leaving quickly is not an option. Yes, we must put more pressure on the Iraqis to step up, but doing so through a timetable is dangerous. Obama is digging his own grave.
To: mdittmar
Let’s set a timetable for Obama’s withdrawl. I could live with that.

You’ll note the sleight of hand.
He’s calling for “increased pressure”... on our allies. On our enemies, that translates into “decreased pressure”.
Obviously, I don’t agree. Peace comes when your enemy finally decides he has no chance, that you’re going to keep coming for him until he’s either retired from the game or six feet under. He has to lose hope of ever winning by force of arms. That doesn’t happen when you promise to leave by date certain.

Reference Christopher Hitchens: I always think it's a good idea to let the enemy know exactly when you intend to give up. (paraphrased)
Obama is a defeatist surrender bum. And a Black supremacist (which he hides well).
To: marron
Youll note the sleight of hand. You are absolutely right I watched the entire day of hearings and Obama was very scripted. He never really said anything about a "timetable", in fact when Petraus started to respond by talking about that Obama quickly said (I paraphrase) "I'm not talking about a timetable don't get me wrong".
But I could tell as he was talking that the headlines would say exactly that, I'll tell you it sucks to be able to know exactly what the dems and the MSM next slight of word will be.
Typical misleading BS.

What a typical stupid person Obama is. He couldn’t figure out a ballpoint pen.

Why not just set a time so that Iran and Al Qaeda can go rest, and wait to take over Iraq until after we leave? Okay, here's the timetable. The last of our troops will be out no later than 2050. Now that there's a timetable, is Obama happy?

"Lets set a timetable for Obamas withdrawl. I could live with that" Too bad we could not retroactively set a time table for his piece of trash father to make an early withdrawal from his mother. A timely pull out would have saved this country a hell of a lot of trouble.
