TODAY: Kansas Supreme Court Hears Tiller Case [Abortion-mill doctor subpoenaed]

The Kansas Supreme Court heard arguments today over subpoenaed medical records of notorious abortionist George Tiller, who is accused of performing late-term abortions — which are illegal in Kansas — at his Wichita clinic.

In January, the Sedgwick County grand jury subpoenaed about 2,000 late-term abortion records from Tiller’s clinic; the judge reduced that to 250. Tiller is refusing to turn over the records, claiming it would violate his patients’ privacy. However, the grand jury requested that all patient-identifying information be redacted from the subpoenaed records before the jury receives them.

Tiller's attorneys argued the grand jury investigation constitutes harassment, but several justices were skeptical of that claim, The Associated Press reported.

Operation Rescue President Troy Newman said the people who demanded this grand jury are tired of Tiller’s repeated obstructions.

"Tiller just doesn't want the grand jury to see anything — not the records, not the inside of his clinic, not the abortion process, and certainly not the truth," he said. “The Supreme Court needs to allow the grand jury to do its job and conduct an honest and thorough investigation."

Donna Lippoldt of the developing Kansas Family Policy Council participated in a prayer rally outside of Tiller’s clinic during the hearing. She was joined by pro-life groups, including Kansans for Life, Operation Save America, Pro-Life Kansas and Heartbeat Ministires.

Several life advocates also gathered for a rally outside the Supreme Court building in Topeka.

“If there is no way to hold George Tiller accountable, if he doesn’t ever have to produce any records, then how are we ever going to have any laws enforced in regard to stopping abortion?” Lippoldt asked. “If the Supreme Court of the state of Kansas denies the grand jury access to the redacted medical records to prove that laws have been broken, then George Tiller is truly above the law.”

A banner hanging outside Tiller’s clinic reads, “Wichita Stands with Dr. George Tiller. 35 Years of Saving Women’s Lives,” but Lippoldt said she does not see support for Tiller.

“George Tiller has bought so much influence over the last 35 years,” she said. “But if you go to the records, you’re going to find out that there has never been an instance in the last 35 years where George Tiller did an abortion to save a woman’s life.”

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment is reporting that almost half of the abortions in the state over the last decade have been performed on out-of-state women. In the past two years, nearly 90 percent have come from Missouri.

Operation Rescue’s Newman said many of those women came to see Tiller.

Maybe some could argue the morality of "terminating" early preganancies.
There is no defense for killing almost full-term infants.
Unless your last name is Mengele, or Tiller.
What are we now reaping as a nation for allowing this to go on for so long?

Incorrect. Late term abortions are unfortunately legal in Kansas and the law is very lax. If two doctors agree that continued pregnancy is detrimental to the woman's health the post-viability abortions can be performed. It is this loophole that Tiller has exploited.

Tiller is a serial murderer. He is but a fleck in the tapestry of what is euphemistically named ‘choice in America’, the murderous scheme for empowerment used by the democrat party. The people perish for lack of wisdom ... too many calling themselves Christians are voting for people like Obama and Clinton, Feinstein and Boxer, Kennedy and Harkin, all of whom not only condone this evil slaughter of alive unborn children but defend it and fund it!

Photobucket I'm from Kansas and this has disgusted me for a while. It's amazing in the bible belt we bare these atrocities.

Tiller is a serial murderer.

Perhaps. But what never ceases to amazes me is that Operation Rescue and their ilk will constantly complain that the court won't allow Tiller's opponents to look at any medical record that they want, but I haven't hear a single one of them advocating tightening up the notoriously lax Kansas laws to prevent the kind of procedures Tiller performs. Wouldn't that be the easiest and most effective way to put Tiller out of business? And isn't that the goal?

The law requires a second opinion from a doctor who is not financially involved or connected to the practice seeking the consultation that the womans health or life is in peril... this IF FOLLOWED TO THE LETTER is good insurance against the wanton murder spree that is Tillers practice (and yes I mean murder not simply homicide as these abortions are outside the law) ,, THAT IS WHAT THIS LEGAL PURSUIT IS ABOUT ,, Tiller has been bypassing legal restrictions FOR DECADES by paying off the Rats in power.. You want additional laws passed? Why? If it won’t be followed or enforced...

Then they're a little late. About a year ago the then-Attorney General Paul Morrison filed 19 charges against Tiller alledging these very violations on the part of Tiller and another doctor. Those charges haven't been dropped or thrown out of court, and are working their way towards trial. Last I heard the currenc AG, Stephen Six, didn't need Operation Rescue's help in prosecuting the charges.

The “funny” thing about abortions is that the stupid liberals who insist abortion is a legal “right” are killing the future workers who WOULD HAVE paid for their social security AND many future like-thinking liberals.

The subpreme court aided and abetted this evil with the Stenberg v Carhardt decision. The Lawrence v Texas decision proved secular humanism is the religion reigning over the U.S. and the subpreme court, so Tiller the serial murderer has an ally in the highest court system as now presented. Such putrifaction cannot sustain a Republic for long.

George Tiller is as bad as it gets. There are cases where it would have been kinder to simply shoot the baby in the head than do what he did.

The politicians he bought aren't any better.

Why do you think immigrants are pouring in to replace the dying breed that has aborted over 35 million of it's own people?

“The dying breed” is a euphemism used by some La Raza types to describe current Anglos.

Tiller is a provider of ‘fetal tissues’ ... his methodology offers the most ‘pristine tissues’ for sale to research groups, even in Kansas.

There is no morality of 'terminating' early pregnancies.

What you don't understand is if you allow early pregnancy termination, it is followed by the slippery slope of 9 month termination, which is where we are now.

Full term baby killing didn't happen overnight....

..it was always on the drawing board, but Planned Parenthood/NARAL understood they could only incrementally achieve this hideous goal.

And now they have.....and Tiller has been plying his trade for years and years.

Sounds Biblical doesn't it.

We allow 50 million of our potential citizens to be murdered in the womb....

..and 35 years after it began, we are this close to our nation overthrown by millions of illegals ....and sanctioned by our President.

I believe judgment is here, and we won't escape it.

May God have mercy on us.
