Where did the Hillary Clinton campaign first go wrong? How did she go from inevitable to in trouble?

I think it all began with the very first contest: Iowa.

Iowa is where Clinton needed to strangle the Barack Obama campaign in its crib.

She needed to do him in at the very beginning, while her inevitability argument still had credibility.

True, some in the Clinton campaign were worried about Iowa. Mike Henry, her deputy campaign manager, wrote a 1,500-word internal memo saying Clinton should skip the state entirely and spend her time and money elsewhere.

Bill Clinton had not run in Iowa in 1992 because Iowa Sen. Tom Harkin was running as a favorite son, so Hillary had no organization to build on. Secondly, Iowa did not seem all that welcoming to women candidates.

“I was shocked when I learned Iowa and Mississippi have never elected a woman governor, senator or member of Congress,” Hillary Clinton told Des Moines Register columnist David Yepsen in October 2007. “There has got to be something at work here.”

But Obama did not have an organization to build on, either. And though he was a man, he was also an African-American in a state that is 94.6 percent white.

And Clinton did have some advantages: Older voters favored her, and Iowa was a state with a lot of older voters. In 2004, voters over the age of 50 represented a whopping 64 percent of those who voted in the caucus........."

Clinton was out hustled in the caucuses and way too certain of her victory. All other considerations aside, the Obama campaign was better than hers.

It all ended the second she went off script.

It was the debates with the illegal drivers ID’s, the planted questions by Clinton operatives posing as independants and republican audience members being exposed, not to mention the media being fed up with all of the bullying and threats.

Totally correct. It wasn't the "younger voter"...it was the "younger volunteer."

I was driving throughout the State last Fall...Obama signs were everywhere. I mean EVERYWHERE; in small towns, along rural roads, places where you would not have expected to see them.

They really had a great grass-roots network. Plus, Iowans are rather populist...hence: Obama and Huckabee.

Frankly, had I known that the choice would come down to Huck or McCain, I would have been volunteering for Huckabee; and I don't particularly like him.

When media stopped covering up all her blunders.

Obama's campaign wouldn't be doing so well either if media didn't keep stuffing the skeletons that keep falling out of his closet back in.

Gee, just imagine what democrat fortunes would look like if media was actually unbiased, and journalists wrote real investigative journalism articles instead of biased op-eds?

Journalism is just talk, not action - and it follows that journalism has an inherent bias in favor of talkers at the expense of doers. Talkers can always second guess, and point out the hole in any doughnut. When a talker is proven wrong by the course of events, a talker will always change the subject.

American "conservatism" is about gratitude, about giving credit to " the man who is actually in the arena . . . who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds."

As an engineer who believes in tech progress, it is a grief to me to recognize the disastrous consequences of the simple telegraph. Because, as a solution in search of a problem, the promoters of the telegraph promoted the idea of the importance of the news out of all proportion. In the real world the news is rarely something that we need to, or even can, take effective action on. But we have been sold the propaganda that that almighty "wire" of superficial, negative, unrepresentative stories from the Associated Press was of vital everyday importance.

Rush talks about the fact that if you miss one news outlet, there is always another one telling the same story . . . or some other story of equal irrelevance. And that is perfectly true because the AP newswire has homogenized the press and turned it into journalism. Newspapers used to be openly partisan affairs, notably fractious and contentious. The AP newswire was a faustian bargain - it gave each newspaper an unlimited supply of news, but it also gave the same news to all newspapers. With the result that the news is a national monopoly, and all those notably fractious and opinionated papers suddenly limited their ideological competitiveness to the editorial page.

Underneath it all is the shared need for the public to perceive that the Associated Press is objective - meaning that, far from acting as a check on each other, each newspaper committed itself to the proposition that all newspapers are objective. Whereas, of course, none of them is objective since all are selling the same exaggerated idea of the importance of the news in and of itself. So, exactly because newspapers took on a facade of objectivity, they became insidiously propagandistic. And that has been going on since the memory of living man runneth not to the contrary.

We can only hope that the Internet and the bandwidth revolution reverse, or at least effectively expose, that.

My opinion?

The MSM recognized almost immediately that Obama had “JFK qualities” and would make a great story. They latched onto the romanticism almost immediately, and the rest is history.

On a side note, it’s hysterical to see the Clintons get the crap end of the media stick, after being the beneficiaries of MSM-worship all these years.

And to see the MSM in action against a DEMOCRAT - well, it’s just awesome to behold.

You've pegged the Right-O-Meter! (And thus exposed the entire secret of the MSM.) Like any completely biased, completely subjective, opinon-based viewpoint, this is the starting point...it is all about what starry-eyed, know-nothing, "what if" so-called journalists think as to what gets reported. The man is an empty suit, a blank slate that every romantic, feely, non-thinking voter can project their own agenda upon, and the whole Camelot ("Obamalot"?) thing just puts the icing on it.

As if anyone needed proof of media bias, can you imagine what the Clinton Impeachment would have been like if they had thouroghly pursued it the way they have been working Hillary over these past weeks? (Well, now that I think of it, we would have had several years of Al Gore as President, so strike that.) But the fact remains...Hill was ready for the kind of kid gloves, lap-dog media she had back when her lying, adulterous, smarmy, slimey husband was President, and is now astounded that Her Highness is being subjected to actual examination like any commoner.

Tables turned when Americans saw the PHOTOGRAPH of an OLD and AGED Mrs. Bill Clinton. Image that ugly old hag and her grifter husband back in the White House!! Loyalists realized then that her best days were long gone.
