You're not losing an MSNBC host--you're gaining a Dem Senate candidate. That seems an ever-more-likely scenario, given Chris Matthews' reaction to a suggestion that he's well-positioned to make a run against Arlen Specter in 2010.
Philly-based radio talk show host Michael Smerconish was Matthews' guest on this evening's Hardball, and found a way to work the suggestiion of a Matthews' senate run into his closing comments.

I’d vote for Hillary before I’d vote for that lying crap slinging POS !
Doom on him !
Hope yer well.....stay safe .......:o)
Hey, we’d just be substituting one drooling idiot for another.
damn, you must REALLY hate that lyin’ crap slingin’ POS!!!
Is there a Pennsylvania ping list?
That aside, the best that can be said for a Matthews candidacy is that it would be slightly less ridiculous than Al Franken’s. And that’s not meant as a compliment.
Wow. You really must hate him. But I see your point. POS’s are POS’s.
...LOL !
Don’t know of anyone with a PA ping list but for Chrissy to consider a Senate run is a real laugher, perhaps senility is setting in. lol
If running for US Senate is what it takes to give Chrissy another tingling sensation up his leg then who are we to deny him the thrill?
I would vote for him in a minute...just to get him off the TV !
OMFG!!!
The mental image of him running his mouth on the senate floor and on the Sunday talk shows is just dammed frightening.
Ailing Spinchter is a Republican? Since when?
A rope would give him that same sensation......:o)
Yeah, but to replace a RINO with a real dim, well that gives us a chance to get a eal consrvative in next cycle. Always worth the effort
Gee is there a difference? If so, someone please, clue me in!!!
Matthews vs Specter?
That’s like a choice between today’s common flesh-eating disease and yesterday’s leprosy.
Either way, you’re gonna die a miserable death.
So does he actually live in PA or is he planning to pull a Hillary???
Aye-—Scottish law says there is.
He was born and raised in the Philadelphia area. His brother is in local politics there. So he's got more in the way of ties to Pennsylvania than Clinton had to New York.
We are so humped. The fact some people in this country are even talking about it.
His brother ran for Lt. Governor, no? Heck, Specter may retire (just my own conjecture) and maybe it can be brother vs. brother?
Yes, I don’t know that he was a RINO although I think he was more moderate than conservative...I didn’t follow him too closely though.
