Anyone reading this blog who isnt aware of the dustup that occurred at the Mall of America somewhere in Minnesota this past Friday must not be a reader of the New York Times (or any of the teeming millions of mom and pop atheist/Darwinist / boffin blogs that are all atwitter about it and still writing well into the night.)
The controversy around Premise Medias upcoming movie Ben Steins EXPELLED: No Intelligence Allowed became the hottest topic in the blogosphere. According to BlogPulse, a service of Nielsen Buzzmetrics, the issue held the number one slot throughout the day on Monday, March 24th
Suffice it to say that getting caught sneaking into a movie is apparently a much, much bigger deal in Minnesota than it is in the rest of the country.
But we understand. What could possibly be more depressing than finding yourself with nothing to do, in town for an atheists convention, in Minnesota of all places?
Imagine traveling all the way from England to pal around with an assistant biology professor and then finding out that your host is a would-be gangsta of sorts? Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Yep, that totally invalidates the message of the film.
I know I wouldn’t believe a word of it knowing that part of it was plagiarized...
Myers filled out an Internet form for an invitation, which was issued. This invitation was rescinded at the point of contact. Dawkins didn't “sneak in”; he was the invited guest of another invited guest (the Internet form allowed you to take guests), who was summarily dis-invited at the event. Both were going to a movie in which they were PARTICIPANTS, both of whom were THANKED for their participation in the movie credits. Moreover the guy who kicked out Myers SAID HE KNEW DAWKINS WAS THERE; so who snuck?
Nothing Myers or Dawkins did to see a movie they were in was dishonest in the least. I.D.iots sure like to lie.
Whatever the message of the film was, it is lost. The media is the message.
Can’t wait until the schools are teaching that life was designed by our alien masters...
you mean our manatee masters.
Nothing was plagiarized. I know Ben Stein's fellow author, Kevin Miller, personally and he simply would not do that. What appears to have happened is the director used a piece of film that he thought was in the public domain that may not have been. Although a skeptic, I am willing to at least give this film a fair viewing...that is if it allowed to be shown.
I was being very sarcastic.
Coyoteman, from what I have gathered, is a strong atheist/Darwinist, and I simply posted a sarcastic rendition of the effect that he was trying to achieve by pointing out the “plagiarism”.
Sorry...I missed it. In my defense it has been a very long day. Whine/
When Dr. Francis Crick discovered DNA and saw it's profound specified complexity he immediately knew it was the result of a giant ejaculation from far far away.
Apparently Dr. Dawkins agrees. We are the product of space aliens.
This needs to be taught in our schools ASAP.
Not quite correct. I have a strong background in the theory of evolution and the fields of fossil man and osteology.
By the way, to me calling someone a "Darwinist" appears to be akin to calling someone a n...... It is designed to elicit an emotional response and substitutes name-calling for a reasoned argument by categorizing an individual, negatively, into a group which is being thus disparaged.
But your "sarcastic rendition" is fine. I perhaps have been sarcastic on occasion myself. Once. Maybe even twice. ; - )
So you are also a sacasmitist?

I love that this movies is ticking off people who demand that their dogmas never be challenged!
I’m going to go buy a ticket just to tick off a Talibatheist!
And 95% of the Dover decision was plagiarized from an ACLU brief. Does that make you change your mind about ID? Didn’t think so.
Again, plagiarism is not the issue. The claim is the use of video without the permission of the copy write holder. Is that an error by these film makers? Yes it is. Does everyone in this project have some culpability? Yes they do, including my friend.
All I know is the man. He is my friend and I will defend him. I have no inside information. What I do know is it is better to be exposed to all points of view before making any judgments. As a biologist by training, that is basic scientific method.
Both the belief in Darwinism and belief in intelligent design are matters of faith. Their is no definitive proof either way. I will await the film before I make any additional judgments. I am agnostic on this debate. I can see both sides.
What I do know is it is better to question orthodoxy rather than submit to it. If that is too difficult to ask, then we all lose.
Another poster who substitutes name-calling for rational argument (see post #12, above).
Enjoy the movie. I'll wait for the DVD version. Probably won't take long.
What branch of biology, if I may ask?
How much genetics have you had?
If he thought it was in the public domain, why did Nathan Frankowski go to the trouble and expense to have the colors changed?
Hey Mort,
How do you define the design having intelligence without any knowledge/evidence of the motivation/substance/mind of the designer?
Plagarism is just a form of . . . evolution. Isn’t it?
I’m amused at the article’s claim that Myers and Dawkins were paid for appearing in the film. Since when do people interviewed for a documentary get paid?
