I’m expecting hubby home shortly...........he’s got grass to cut and is not looking forward to it.

I’ve been sitting outside on the deck filling starter pots with potting soil. It’s still to early to put anythig outside, but I’ve got a table set up next to the door to act as the base of my “greenhouse.”

i am going to wait a week or two to buy flowering plants for the deck to fill my pots back there. as nice as it is, i can’t swear we won’t have to have the furnace on again yet!

I have no doubt the heat will have to be turned on again, but, for today, I’m pretending it’s done with for the season :)

Sue and her husband are waiting for the weather to completely break before they have their driveway redone, so for the moment there are a few rather deep ruts in it. She called me yesterday afternoon while I was still at the Lodge asking me to bring clean clothes for Jax. The girls had decided one of the “ruts” would make a good swimming hole. I have to drive past her house on my way home.......I did not recognize any of the girls — they were covered head to toe in mud!!!!!!!

i thank the Lord mine have outgrown that stage, though none of them were all that big on rolling in mud for the sake of it.

When hubby and I got there with a change of clothes for Jax, Sue told them to go inside and strip -— I told her she was crazy and told them to go out back, then I told Sue to hit them all with the hose.

The pictures we took are absolutely hilarious. Jax blonde hair is just as black as both Becky’s and her sister’s.

We could see some flurries on Sunday or Monday. The grass needs cut for the first time. I insisted on waiting until we got into double digits for the date.

Cold or not, there was no way those kids could have gone into the house. Even though Sue told them to strip in the kitchen, she would have had to take the hose to the kitchen to get the mud out.........been there, done that.

When they do stuff like that at my house I grab some towels and take them behind the house, hose them down, make them strip, hose them down again, then wrap them in towels and send them into the shower.

I think hubby is trying to tell me something, he just got home and brought me another 300 square feet of black plastic mulch..............and more seeds. What he didn’t bring me were bean seeds, and what he doesn’t know (yet) is we have to make a trip to Pocomoke so I can get them.
Beans are the only seeds I can put directly into the field this early.

yeah, we have 56 and 54 and rain for both Sun and Mon in our forecast. the grass has been cut twice here and it looks really really good. this time of year is truly the best, the heat of summer really fries up the plants and grass.

xshub is checked in at Reagan National, departing for Dallas. i made the mistake of mentioning the American Airlines brouhaha to xsteen last night and she was totally wrapped around the axle that daddy might not be able to make it down there!

The grass is nice and geen, there’s wild onions, too. And it’s too early for the dandelions.

We’ll have to hire someone to cut grass when I travel. So I may get a little reprieve.

LOL!!!!!

Although it is in Maryland, it is actually the nearest “city” to me. They’ve got a Southern States up there so I can get bulk seeds.

After living in Delaware for 20+ years I got used to not dealing with sales tax. Living in VA and doing a bunch of shopping in MD for the past 5 years has been real interesting in regard to what gets taxed and what doesn’t. Here in VA all of my seeds are taxed, but in MD not all are taxed. While going through receipts to do my taxes I noticed that seeds such as corn and beans are not taxed in MD, but non-food seeds, such as birdhouse gourds and flowers are.

i admit that i am a pansy.

Pansies aren't so bad, in fact they're about the only flowers I ever plant (on the rare occasion I plant any)

Hubby never works without gloves and doesn't understand why I am so averse to them. I use them when I'm hoeing or raking to keep from getting blisters, but that is about it. I prefer to "know" what I'm doing and the gloves don't allow that.

American University is in the heart of northwest DC and yes the weather should be great. as for American University, undergrad... overpriced and not particularly renowned for anything. i guess the International Relations program might be worth it, but nothing else. It costs the same as Georgetown which has a national rep, where American really doesn’t. My law school alma mater, GW, as far as undergrad goes is the same way. highway robbery as far as tuition, for a so-so education.
