A warning shot would be a crusie missile through its main engine.

Iranian must feel that a skirmish with US would turn world opinion against US even further and thus they would have nothing to worry about.

I think as stupid as the world is, its not that stupid. They can see what game Iran is playing.

Iran needs to be shut down hard and taken down a peg.
They need to be shown that they are not the player on the world stage that they think they are.

http://cbs2chicago.com/national/iran.naval.confrontation.2.697662.html

The Navy says a ship encountered a small Iranian high-speed boat in the central Persian Gulf and warned it away by firing a flare.

Two other similar Iranian boats in the area did not come as close.

The USS Typhoon tried unsuccessfully to establish radio contact with the Iranian boat after it came within an estimated 200 yards of the Typhoon on Thursday, outside Iranian territorial waters. A Navy official says the ship then fired the flare and continued on its way without incident.

The official says there were no signs any boat was armed.

It was at least the second encounter with an aggressive Iranian high-speed boat this year.

Huh. Perhaps this is the Iranian Olympic rowing team? I just read today that Mahmoud Ahmadgenocide has accepted an invitation to attend the opening ceremonies in Beijing....

They are testing to see how far they can get in before they go full speed for the final run up

It should have been sunk at 400 or more yards

Casus belli ?

Nope. Too similar to the Gulf of Tonkin incident. Starting with the Hostage crises moving on to their forging of US currency their support to terrorists etc etc etc we have plenty of Casus belli, our political class has always lacked the will to act on them.

It will be a truely sad day when they finally take a shot and we lose 1 single life or damage a ship. If its a matter of not wanting to show our capabilities we should fly something in and destroy them. Letting them again and again, act provacatively within 200 yards is just insane.

An upcoming joint US-Israel report on the September 6 IAF strike on a Syrian facility will claim that former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein transferred weapons of mass destruction to the country, Channel 2 stated Monday.

Sounds like a good time to invest in glass bottom boats as Iran will need plenty after this so they can see their navy.
