Madeleine and her Exes

by: Malcolm A. Kline, April 11, 2008

When big-name Democrats return to academia after leaving elective or appointive office, they may go through withdrawals. “I’m starting a group of former foreign ministers called ‘Madeleine and her exes,’” the first woman to serve as U. S. Secretary of State said last Tuesday.

Currently, Madeleine K. Albright teaches at Georgetown. “This weekend my class is doing a simulation on Iran,” she said at the seminar co-sponsored by the Center for American Progress. “We were doing North Korea but I got tired of that.”

Albright addressed a symposium on human rights held at Georgetown Law, the other sponsor of the event. “Foreign policy is just a toolbox to get people to do what you want,” she told the audience, which was composed mainly of students and a few professors.

And that, she claims, is what she tells her students. Sanctions are one of these tools but she cannot endorse them without reservations.

“I was in the White House when the Soviets invaded Afghanistan,” she remembers. “I do not think that the Olympic boycott of the Soviets after their invasion of Afghanistan was particularly effective.”

“I think it punished our athletes.” Such a demurral begs the question of whether dictators should be rewarded for their most dictatorial behavior, whether in the Soviet Union then or China now.

As for human rights, she groups the environment as one of these. Moreover, she avers, “We must have proof that freedom leads not only to political rights but to food on the table.”

...(snip).. “Oil For Food was an attempt to get around Saddam’s refusal to let in medicine,” she says of the program which, though targeted at the Hussein government of Iraq, served to enrich UN bureaucrats, their progeny and friends....

Why don’t they just go away? Especially ones that were such dismal failures.

She has no charisma, looks, brains, personality, ideas - how in the heck did she get a job?

“We were doing North Korea but I got tired of that.”

Considering that was one of Half-Bright’s incredible and dangerous diplomatic failures, my surprise knows no bounds.

I remember my Dad ranting about Arkansas Senator William “Half Bright” back in the early 70’s when the idiot was Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Fulbright’s legacy is Bill and Hillary (Dumb and Dumber) plus another jewel that deserves the resurrected name he proudly earned - so sit down and STFU Madelyn Half Bright.

Proving once again the truth of the adage, “Those who can, do. Those who can’t, teach.”

This from the dumbest person ever to sit in the SOS office. At least Warren Chrsitopher appeared to sleep through his term there. The housekeeper on the other hand actually thought she was doing some worthy diplomacy. I still don’t think she’s caught on that the terroist despots with whom she thought she was deftly negotiating were actually just laughing at her. Maybe we should just let her be happily finishing out her last years in sublime delusion.

Too much ballroom dancing can be very tiring...

That adage is NOT true. It’s too bad the Administration at Georgetown saw fit to hire this woman, but there are several good teachers there too. Maybe those who take her class ought to consider a sound political philosophy course with Fr. James V. Schall, S.J. It would provide a healthy balance...and a lot more common sense.
(By the way, I am a teacher. I CAN, I DO and I DO TEACH.. ;-) )

No offense to all the excellent teachers out there. I should have included the proviso “in some cases” to the old adage.

Maybe it should go “Those who can, do. Those who can, also teach. And those who can’t do or teach, get a government job.”

Same reason Jocelyn Elders and Janet Reno got jobs; low in intelligence and mentally malleable! Between the 3 of them you hit an IQ barely in the 3 digits! All failures! All Liberals! All morons! That is a feature that Bill Clinton looks in woman. It explains Monica as well!

Lol! No offense taken. The revised adage is a bit more accurate, but there are even a FEW people in government positions who do a good job. Now...if we could only remove those who don’t do a good job...
