Just keep in mind that while you’re not taking the argument to them, they’ll be writing letters to their representatives, organizing boycotts of “polluters,” campaigning against offshore oil drilling, and writing checks to the Sierra Club, the Audubon Society, and so on.

Urban Legend - CFL's have 4-5mg of Mercury inside, a dot about the size of this period >.<
They also reduce Mercury released from the burning of oil and coal, because they use about 25% of the energy of incandescents.
