OBAMA OWES CHRISTIANS AN APOLOGY
Catholic League ^ | April 12, 2008 | Bill Donohue

Posted on 04/14/2008 1:21:03 PM PDT by NYer

It was reported yesterday that on April 6, Sen. Barack Obama made the following remarks about the white working-class: “It’s not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

Catholic League president Bill Donohue wasn’t amused:

“Commentators are already saying that Obama’s remarks are an attack on small town America. But they are more than that.

“Just as words can be taken out of context, it is equally wrong to dismiss the context in which words are spoken. The forum Obama chose to make his remarks was a crowd of wealthy, left-leaning secularists in the most left-leaning, secular city in America—San Francisco. In other words, it was a safe venue for him to speak condescendingly about those so-called small-minded Christians.

“This is hardly the first time working-class Christians have been labeled parochial by elites who fancy themselves open minded. But for a serious candidate for the presidency to float this stereotype is despicable. Ironically, on the same day this story broke, Catholics learned that the Obama campaign had just announced the formation of the National Catholic Advisory Council. I have a suggestion for Obama: He can begin his outreach effort by apologizing to Christians for his insensitive remarks.”

He owes us all a candid explanation about...

THE TRUTH ABOUT BLACK LIBERATION THEOLOGY

...and it has nothing to do with traditional Christianity.

Pandering to a secular progressive crowd that believes that religion is for ‘weak minded’ people.

Yeah, this is gonna cost him. Anyone still think he can ‘unite’ this country?

Anyone hear Oprah’s comments?

She’s a “free thinking Christian” who believes Jesus is one way to get to God, but there are also many other ways.

Sorry, you’re NO Christian if you think this, because Jesus Himself said He was the ONLY WAY.

I heard him say that it’s OK to have religion, but when you become “exclusionary”, like saying “Jesus is the only way to God”,

then you’re “engaging in ideology” - he didn’t explain why this was bad.

Obama owes capitalists an apology. Implicit in his remark is that capitalism has failed and government needs to step in and clean up the mess. I’d feel better if some people got upset about that.Mp>

That a politician thinks voters are yokels is kind of a dog bites man story.

Which part of Senator McCain's statement do you think he should apologize to you for?

Let me be clear, let me be clear. Evangelical leaders are changing America for the better. Chuck Colson, head of the Prison Fellowship, is saving men from life...from a lifetime behind bars by bringing them the Good News of redemption. James Dobson, who does not support me, has devoted his life to rebuilding America's families. Others are leading the fight against pornography, cultural decline and for life. I stand with them. I am a pro-life, pro-family, fiscal conservative, an advocate of strong defense, and yet Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell and a few Washington leaders of the pro-life movement call me an unacceptable presidential candidate. They distort my pro-life positions and smear the reputations of my supporters.

Why? Because I don't pander to them, because I don't ascribe to their failed philosophy that money is out message.

And you really don't see any difference betweeen Senator McCain and Barack Obama?

Roger that!

We have one of our own in THIS neighborhood......
Proving once again that you don’t need to be intelligent to own a million dollar home!

Last Presidential election cycle - I had my Bush sign taken from my front yard....
I didn’t get mad — I got even.... WE ARE A SMALL NEIGHBORHOOD...

I had a LARGE piece of bright white Styrofoam — on which I painted in glossy black: “A Kerry Nazi Stole my Bush sign”.
I placed this NEW sign in a position that the traffic on our lane could NOT avoid reading it....

I would leave my garage door open all hours that sign was in the yard so I could monitor the action — hoping I would have the opportunity to kick some DU’s ass, who attacked my sign.

At night - I would bring it in the garage.

Had lots of honks of appreciation, and several folks stopped by to have a beer and learn the background for my rather LARGE and CHALLENGING sign...

One lady in her nearly new Mercedes SUV — pulled up to my curb facing the wrong direction on our curvy lane — and started SHOUTING that Kerry supporters were not Nazis....

I calmly explained my sign addressed only the Kerry Nazi who STOLE my sign... This didn’t satisfy her... She wanted me to remove MY sign from MY yard...

I told her that NOW she WAS acting like a Nazi.....and that neither she, nor her husband nor the police could have me remove my sign.... THEN her profanity became really personal...

Now, I’m a former Marine and profanity is a legitimate form of communication - but it goes in both directions..
So I replied that perhaps she wasn’t a Nazi, but she just proved she was a “foul mouthed bitch”....

That REALLY offended her, and she stomped on the gas and tore away from the curb, jumped the curb at the curve, went up on the sidewalk and nearly went head on into a stone retaining wall my neighbor had recently rebuild from a previous accident... I was hoping she was going home to get her husband or significant other to come over and beat that old man’s ass with the insulting sign and insults...

Unfortunately — no one showed up....
Another lost opportunity to rearrange an idiot’s brain housing group..

Hillary, Obama, and McCain are similar in that they are ultra liberals, support massive amnesty, and lack experience.

Hillary and McCain are pathological liars. Obama is a racist. Hillary and McCain are unable to even answer simple questions. Obama has his Rev. Wright. Hillary will bring the Clinton political machine along with the Rapist back to the White House. McCain is uninformed, has mental issues, and is a nasty adulterer while Cindy is okay with having an affair with a married man with a sick wife. The list goes on.

Like you, I will be voting 3rd party unless a miracle happens and we will get a candidate who is normal and is concerned with the welfare of this country.

Read Tolle’s decription of his own experience. I believe he is suffering from a strong delusion and it an agent (knowingly or not) of those who want to water down christianity in particular, prepatory for getting many people on this earth to accept something entirely different that the Truth of God which was not imagined or created by any man or devil.

As much as I respect Donohue, and can see his take about this, I think he is missing the point.

See the quote: Obama, speaking of some Pennsylvanians’ economic anxieties, told supporters at the San Francisco fundraiser: “You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years. ... And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

The key here has almost nothing to do with “bitter”, nor does it have to do with “small town”... the key is how this “uniter” and similar members of the “intelligentsia” look down on we the “little people” of this country, and our beliefs and values and political motivations! Unless you happen to be one of his elitist comrades or at a high rolling fundraiser, he considers you to be a seriously duped person if you don’t agree with him. Whether it’s religion, guns, illegals, etc... it’s all looked at as being part of being lower class.

His looking down on we who happen to seriously care about our religion explains why he could simply ignore all that Wright was saying to begin with, too. It really didn’t matter to him what was going on in the sermons. He was simply there for show to begin with, and to put in some face time to get “known”.

Even in his “apology”, he can’t see that it’s the way he looks down on us that is the reason for the firestorm. He’s still “standing by” the sentiment - that sentiment has nothing to do with “bitter” but with how these “elites” look down upon us “rubes”.

Now, thanks to his own remarks, that we the “little people” have become seriously aware of how OBama is, “elitist, out-of-touch, phony, and even unpatriotic”. The fact that he “bared his soul” this way in front of a group of super-rich, super-libs who had supposedly been vetted and would never release these SECRET remarks is even more telling about how much of a Marxist, and elitist he is. Don’t forget that these honest thoughts of his were never supposed to be known by the general public, only by his Marxist supporters.

SnObama -— It can’t be said any better than that in seven letters.
