(04-14) 11:32 PDT SAN FRANCISCO -- A strong and potentially deadly earthquake is virtually certain to strike on one of California's major seismic faults with a magnitude of at least 6.7 within the next 30 years, scientists said Monday in releasing the first official forecast of statewide earthquake probabilities.

This sounds like the start of a great office pool!

I'll bet 100,000,000,000 carbon credits on February 29, 2012.

I’d give a billion carbon credits to see San Francisco fall into the Pacific. Algore would loan them to me, I’m sure.

Yeah. I remember when they first started saying that 'The Big One' was due within the next 25 years - they started saying it
26 years ago. I've been waiting for something Biblical to happen ever since.*YAWN*

Good grief, I could predict that, and I don’t even have fancy letters behind my name. I also predict tornados in Kansas, rain in Seattle, snow in Buffalo, and hurricanes in Florida. All within the next 30 years.

There is a silver lining. All the illegals will probably dash south back to Mexico and stay there.

For those voodoo worshippers and prediction chasers on the east coast and places like Hacksaw Arkansas, a temblor...is when everything gets ta shanken and temblin, a rockin an a rollin, and those big ol homes started sinken in that liquifriction, an the ol ground turns to oatmeal and poof, that dern home just gets sucked under......Only to get burped up later in those aftershocks.

I vaguely remember essentially the same prediction in the early 70’s...about the same time the “authorities” were warning of the coming of a new Ice Age.

If you make lots of predictions and make them often enough,
you will eventually be right on at least a few of them.
Like Nostradamus ...
To: skimbell
So do I. Geesh, they never quit trying. There may be an earthquake. There are always earthquakes, problem is they haven’t predicted an imminent one yet. LOL!
Giving ones self a 30 year window is positively briliant. /s

Its been longer since the New Madrid Fault has done her thing. I predict that the New Madrid will shake before California’s fault does.
To: Larry R. Johnson
Gee , if we could just find somewhere where nothing happens.
Maybe if we could just stop the planet spinning, everything would stop.
Weather would be constant (well, given a little time)
We could turn the Earth into a dead rock like the moon, and be done with Earthquakes, tidal waves, and Storms.

Actually, it would probably trigger the most widespread case of looting this country has ever seen.

Wow. This is one to file in the “Water Is Wet” drawer.
To: swmobuffalo
No one gets it. The quake is coming due to global warming. We will have to have our taxes raised so the earthquake can be avoided.
That’s pretty much the left’s logic. Sure makes sense to me.

Sheesh, we need so-called experts to tell us there’ll be a bad quake sometime in CA’s future? Hey guys - I’d have told you that for 1/2 the grant money! ;-)
To: indylindy
Anyway we can speed this up? Say, like nuke the San Andreas fault to jump-start it?
I’m buying waterfront property in Nevada. Gonna build a new community whose slogan is “Surf Reno”.
Aloha!
As Red Foxx would say, “Here comes the Big One”.
Let’ throw in Portland and Seattle just to appease the earth gods.

Most probably forget the book from back then “The Last Days of the Late Great State of California”
CA was going to fall into the ocean before 1969.

I look at these about every day, and I have noticed that the locations have shifted a bit more into the valley and into Nevada.

Yes, the New Madrid Fault is way over due. I'm in KC and would feel a good tremble but my sister and her family live outside of St. Louis - not good. I pay practically nothing for earthquake insurance. I lived in LA during the 94’ Northridge quake. It scared the living hell out of me.

If I've been edumacated properly, the New Madrid fault isn't nearly as likely to pop it's cork soon, as is the San Andreas. So, you're stuck with your e-mail debate a little longer. LOL
