CHICAGO (CBS) ― A state lawmaker from Chicago has gotten some not-so-adoring attention from news-talk show host Keith Olbermann for her rant against an atheist activist.
State Rep. Monique Davis (D-Chicago), who represents parts of the South Side, was named the "Worst Person in the World" on Tuesday because of her rant against Rob Sherman, an atheist activist who was testifying last week about the constitutionality of a plan to donate money to rebuild Pilgrim Baptist Church.
"This is the Land of Lincoln, where people believe in God; where people believe in protecting their children. We don't want in my opinion, what you have to spew and spread is extremely dangerous. It's dangerous," Davis said, raising her voice gradually as she spoke. "And it's dangerous for our children to even know that your philosophy exists. I am fed up. Get out of that seat!"
No one wanted to comment when CBS 2 contacted Davis' office several times on Wednesday.
But on Thursday, Sherman said on his Web site that Davis had apologized, and explained that she was upset about two more Chicago Public Schools students who had been slain that day. "She said that it was wrong for her to take out her anger, frustrations and emotions on me, and that she apologized to me," Sherman wrote on his Web site. "I told her that her explanation was reasonable and that I forgave her. "
Since Evolution is the mark of the enlightened white liberal maybe its time to see if Obama believes in it? I’m sure that kook Olberman will get right on that.
A Democrat getting “Worst Person”. Well, that’s different.
Imagine walking towards St Peter’s Gates with “atheist activist” as your job description.
forgive my ignorance, is this your area?
Sherman actually has a point on this. Something tells me there wouldn’t be any taxpayer funds to rebuild Holy Name Cathedral if that burned down.
Was Pilgrim Baptist not insured against fire? Or is this a case of them wanting to build something bigger and more opulent and sticking it to the taxpayer?
But isn't this exactly what atheist activists say everyday to Christians? When will he appologize?
That sounds familiar. Oh yes, how Muslims try to suppress all knowledge of other religions and philosophies. Does she think her religion is so weak that it can't survive contrary knowledge, or is she just a repressive theocrat?
Only extreme ones like Richard Dawkins.
Imagine walking to Hade’s bladed bridge as a non-believer.
