RAMALLAH, West Bank (AP) - Former President Jimmy Carter embraced a leading Hamas figure Tuesday, according to participants in a meeting that infuriated Israeli officials already upset by Carter's freelance Mideast peace mission.
Carter also laid a wreath at the grave of Yasser Arafat, whom the Bush administration and many Israelis blame for the breakdown of peace talks seven years ago and the violence that followed.
At a reception in the West Bank town of Ramallah organized by Carter's office, the former president hugged Nasser Shaer, a senior Hamas politician, meeting participants said. Embraces between men are a common custom in Arab culture.
"He gave me a hug. We hugged each other, and it was a warm reception," Shaer told The Associated Press. "Carter asked what he can do to achieve peace between the Palestinians and Israel ... and I told him the possibility for peace is high."............."

What he means is that the possibility is high if Carter can just get him to make the Israelis pay the high price...their destruction. Hamas has consistantly indicated that peace will only come when the Israeli state and people are destroyed and pushed into the sea.
Carter is a traitorus bastard...no different really now than he was as President. We are still living with the abject negative results and impacts of his years in the White House.

Well, just an educated guess, by I’m thinking it’s not ‘or what’.
If Carter is going to continue to conduct himself in this manner, then it would be better for the nation (in fact the world) IMO, if he would pass on to his future reward.
I very seldom say this about anyone. When the abysmal actions of a person get to this level, I have to admit that it would be best for the nation (in fact the world) if they were not around to continue to do things like he as proven himself compelled to do.
This is a comment addressing natural causes, and nobody should read something more into it than that. I would never advocate physical harm be perpetrated on Carter by anyone.
I have no doubt that Carter sees himself as a Christian peacemaker. I see him as an addled fool. It’s a shame a past president could stoop to this level, granting stature to terrorists, and shaming not only himself, but his nation and allies in the process.
