In the race to replace U.S. Congressman Duncan Hunter, Republican Duncan D. Hunter is showing a wide fundraising lead over his Republican and Democratic rivals as the campaign heads to the June 3 primary.

In the Republican field, Hunter, an Iraq war veteran who is the son of the retiring Congressman, is reporting almost $279,000 in first quarter funds and has $263,000 on hand. Watkins, the president of the San Diego County Board of Education, has reported raising $79,000 during the quarter and having $44,000 on hand. Jones, a Santee City Councilman, raised about $28,000 and has $78,000 in cash on hand.

On the Democratic side, Mike Lumpkin, a retired Navy officer, is reporting $87,000 raised and $80,000 in cash on hand. Vickie Butcher, a former Chair of the El-Cajon Planning Commission, raised $18,000 and has $12,000 on hand.

Vickie Butcher, a former Chair of the El-Cajon Planning Commission,

Are the rest of the commissioners refered to as "El-Cajones"?

My serious question is this: Is Duncan Hunter, Jr. truly the most conservative candidate running out of all of the GOP candidates running for this Congressional seat?

I think that is very remote possibility.

He needs something so high profile (in the meantime), the media can't ignore him. Apparently being Chairman and later serving on the Armed Services Committee, and being a Congressman was enough for them. Maybe he should give Ahnold a run for his money! Isn't he up for reelection this year?

Just discovered something:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duncan_Duane_Hunter

> “Wikipedia does not have an article with this exact name.”

> “Start the Duncan Duane Hunter article or add a request for it.”

Throwing down the gauntlet, more enthused than this poster has felt in months:

2012 starts: NOW!!

So who’s ready to start - yes start - the Duncan Duane Hunter ... Wikipedia page?

I live in the district right next door to Duncan D (the 50th). Yes, he is most conservative running.

Now we have to get his dad ready for 2012.

I hope he is up to it! He needs an organization and lots of exposure over the next four years. Something like being picked as head of Homeland Security with the go-ahead to get the border fence built.

"Now we have to get his dad ready for 2012."

While I don't disagree that Duncan Sr would make a great President, he is too old-fashioned for these crazy times.

But he would make a great Secretary of Defense under President McCain. That's what I think he is angling for.
