President and Mrs. Bush will welcome His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI to the White House on April 16, 2008, during his first visit to the United States as Pope. The President and the Holy Father will continue discussions, which they began during the President's visit to the Vatican in June 2007, on their common commitment to the importance of faith and reason in reaching shared goals. These goals include advancing peace throughout the Middle East and other troubled regions, promoting inter-faith understanding, and strengthening human rights and freedom, especially religious liberty, around the world.

Of the secular media, Fox News has the best coverage so far from what I’ve seen — commentary is minimized.

Hopefully the smartass and derogatory comments from the usual disruptors will be minimal.

The Pope and President Bush side by side during the Marine playing of the Pope’s and our National Anthem. Can you even imagine either Hillary or Obama ever looking as regal and admirable in such an instance with this great man and spiritual leader?

I just watched as Nancy Pelosi kissed the Pope's hand.
And she didn't burst into flames.
I was very surprised to see her there because she disagrees with the Pope's strong affirmation of the Catholic Church's pro-life teachings.
To: TomGuy
And followed by 10,000 voices singing “Happy Birthday Pope Benedict!” Look at his beautiful smile.

So Pelosi’s saying the U.S. Speaker of the House is subserviant to the Pope?
To: Pyro7480
The crowd sang Happy Birthday to the Pope. I noticed that yesterday as well at Andrews.

It's English spoken in Italian-accented German. Interesting.
Happy he's here! Great ceremony so far.

She should only be kissing his ring; aka the Piscatory/Pescatorio or the Ring of the Fisherman. Simply a photo-op for that CINO. Hope he gives her a firm dressing down and plenty of penance in private later.

To: July 4th
Yes, his accent is interesting. And he speaks much quieter than I had imagined. I have only heard him speak in Italian or Latin when covered on EWTN, and actually listened to the translators more than the Pope’s voice.

Historic moments like this just cannot be described in words. When you look at Pope Benedict the pride of being Catholic and knowing you are seeing the God chosen man to carry on the work of Jesus, Peter, and all the other Popes just brings you to your knees. At least it does for me. God lives for all of us...Pope Benedict XVI is proof!

She kept her face planted on his hand (ring) for so long I was wondering what the heck she was doing. It should have dawned on me that she was holding a pose long enough for the MSM cameras to get a good shot.
P.S> Great choice for last song... Battle Hymn of the Republic.

She’s trying to “play Catholic” ... looking for votes. It’s a great photo op .... might go down well with liberal “catholics” back in her hometown of Sodom-by-the-Bay.
